The portly pig captured gamer hearts with its name, puppy eyes, and round shape.

According to the Bulbapedia, Lechonk may be a combination of "Lechon" and "oink." This seems quite likely, as a lot of Pokemon names stem from various cultures, onomatopoeias, and languages. Lechonk is a name shared in the Italian version, Spanish, and English. In Japan, it is Guruton and in Germany it is Ferkuli.
The New Wooloo
When Sword and Shield were announced, Wooloo was trending much like Lechonk is now. The two are pretty similar, with both being round, farm-oriented Pokemon announced in an early trailer. As this meme shows, Wooloo is now a thing of the past and Lechonk is the new meme sensation.
This distracted boyfriend meme is incredibly popular. It has been done with the Pokemon franchise many times before, such as looking at a new Pokemon game and forgetting about old Pokemon games or Bede from Sword and Shield looking at Fairy-type instead of Psychic-type. It is possible that another popular Scarlet and Violet Pokemon will push even Lechonk to the other girl in the meme in the future.
