Great Tusk has a respectable 87 base Speed stat, and with full investment and a Choice Scarf, the Pokemon can beat many of the fastest Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. With this build, it stands as a particularly fearsome sweeper in ranked singles play:

• Moves: Headlong Rush, Close Combat, Ice Spinner, Knock Off

Headlong Rush and Close Combat both have 120 damage, with the drawback of lowering both defensive stats. That’s only a problem if opponents can actually hit Great Tusk since this build lets it beat many common opponents to the punch.

Ice Spinner and Knock Off are solid moves to have on hand, but other options can be used. Great Tusk can learn Play Rough, Stone Edge, Iron Head, Zen Headbutt, and Fire Fang. All these moves are worth considering for Great Tusk if a team needs coverage for those types.

Best Great Tusk Build for Ranked Doubles

Great Tusk’s stats are largely the same, whether in ranked doubles or singles, but its move set and item are different. Here’s the best catch-all build for the Pokemon:
