Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is filled with countless Pokemon from both the old generations and this new one. These new Pokemon cover various typings from Steel, Psychic, Ghost, and much more. However, a typing that has always seen new Pokemon added to it with each generation that players are sure to not forget is the simple yet efficient Normal-type Pokemon.

In generation nine players have seen plenty of new additions to the Normal-type, with many already becoming fan-favorites of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Some of these Pokemon are stronger than others and that's why these are the best generation nine Nomral-type Pokemon players should consider having on their team.

8 Squawkabilly

Every generation of Pokemon in the franchise has introduced a new bird-looking Pokemon into the mix. Some titles have done this successfully such as the popularity of Fletchling or Corviknight while others have been long forgotten. In the case of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Squawkabilly is a parrot that players will want to collect.

Compared to other Normal-types on the list Squawkabilly does leave a lot to be desired in the case of power though it does also double up as a flying type. Players will want to quite literally catch them all as this parrot Pokemon appears in a variety of colors that defines its hidden ability.

7 Grafaiai

As seen by Squawkabilly, Normal-type Pokemon are at their strongest when combined with another typing, and this is no different for Grafaiai. Being known as the Toxic Monkey Pokemon, it is of no surprise that this Normal-type is also combined with poison to add a lasting sting to all of its attacks.

What makes Grafaiai such an outstanding Normal-type is due to it being the only pocket critter that can learn the move Doodle. This move turns the Pokemon's as well as its allies abilities to that of the opponent allowing the player to fight fire with fire.

6 Maushold

By far one of the cutest Normal-type Pokemon, Maushold is as deadly as it is cute. Players get three to four Pokemon for the price of two as Maushold is a tiny family of mice that work together when facing their opponent.

Maushold is the only Pokemon that has two moves that only it can learn, these include Population Bomb which has the chance to hit an enemy up to ten times. The other move is Tidy Up that increases the speed and attack of the user while also cleaning up arena effects such as Toxic Spikes.

5 Oinkologne

Oinkologne as seen in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

While arguably not as adorable as its original form of Lechonk, Oinkologne is one of the first Normal-type Pokemon a player will meet during their Pokemon Scarlet and Violet adventures in Paldea.

Although there are plenty of Normal-type Pokemon that will quickly outclass Oinkologne, it is still a great option for players during the start of the game as they attempt to find their feet. Not to mention that a male Oinkologne is the only Pokemon that can have the ability of Lingering Aroma compared to Aroma Veil that removes an opponents' ability if they hit a male Oinkologne with a contact move.

4 Cyclizar

Although a player may have Miraidon or Koraidon depending on what version of the ninth generation of Pokemon they bought, that doesn't stop the Pokemon it was based off of from being a brilliant addition to the roster. Cyclizar is the present day Pokemon of these two legendary Pokemon, and it tries its best to remain relevant.

Like its ancestor and descendant, Cyclizar is also a dragon type meaning it can learn some of the most deadly abilities available in the franchise while also being immune to any of the horrid moves of the Ghost type Pokemon. Other than this Cyclizar is just a great Pokemon to have if a player is looking for something with speed.

3 Farigiraf

While Girafarig joined the Pokemon franchise during the second generation it was only in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, that this Giraffe-like Pokemon finally got itself an evolution. Unlike other Pokemon that evolve after hitting a certain level, players turn this Psychic and Normal-Type into Farigiraf by allowing it to learn the move Twin Beams.

This Pokemon is the only pocket monster that can learn this move which deals a lethal amount of damage twice. Besides this, Farigiraf is also the only Pokemon that can have the ability of Armor Tail that prevents the opponent from using Priority Moves.

2 Dudunsparce

Similarly to Farigiraf, Dudunsparce may be a new Pokemon to arrive in the ninth generation but its pre-evolution was originally added to the game during the second generation. The only way to evolve this Normal-type Pokemon is by allowing it to learn the move Hyper Drill.

This is an incredibly deadly Normal move that was added with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. What makes it so lethal is the fact that it can ignore moves such as protect to do the most amount of damage possible. This move alone has made Dudunsparce one of the best Normal-types in the game.

1 Arboliva

Out of all the Normal-type Pokemon added in the ninth generation with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, by far one of the strongest available to players is the final generation of Smoliv, known as Arboliva. It isn't only an incredibly powerful Normal-type Pokemon but also an incredibly strong Grass type players can catch early on their adventure.

Arboliva is the only Pokemon that can have the ability Seed Sower which causes them to summon Grassy Terrain when they are hit allowing grass type moves to be improved as well as healing Arboliva. It can also know the move Terrain Pulse which is exclusive to Arboliva and its two previous evolutions.
