Ice-type Pokemon are always useful to have in a party, as they are a perfect counter to those strong dragon types. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet there are 29 ice types to find and catch. These include the new strong dragon/ice type Baxcalibur and also some previous favorites: Abomasnow, Weavile, and Frosmoth.
A lot of them are found in one place, so gamers will not have to look far to collect those chilling Pokemon. However, there are a few locations to search if the goal is to obtain every ice-type. Searching in the north of Paldea is where to head. Players can often find several ice-type Pokemon in one place/region, so be sure to pack plenty of Pokeballs for the journey!
6 Glasaedo Mountain
The icy wastelands of Paldea are known as Glasaedo Mountain, it is home to many ice types in the game, and it is the first place to head to for the search. Here the player can find Cubchoo, Beartic Frigibax, Arctibax, Cetoddle, Ceitan, Glaceon, Sneasel, Bergmite, Avalugg, Snover, Abomasnow, Crabominable, Deliverd, Snom, Frostmoth, Snover, Glalile, and Froslass. Suffice it to say, players can spend quite a bit of time in this area looking for these specific Pokemon!
The best of these is a fixed spawn level 49 Arctibax, which will only take five more levels to evolve into Baxcalibur. Pretty much every ice type in the game can be found in Glasaedo Mountain, so warp up warm and get to scaling these icy heights and have the Pokeballs at the ready. It's going to be a long catching session.
5 North Province Area Three
There is one ice type that cannot be found in Glasaedo Mountain, one that can be found here, the returning penguin Pokemon Eiscue. Probably the Pokemon with the weirdest design, Eiscue is a penguin with an ice cub on its head. Say no more.
Gamers can find Eiscue and also Glalie, Froslass, Cetoddle, and Cubchoo in the lower parts of the area, right near the snowy tundra. Eiscue is the Pokemon to get if gamers are heading here for ice types. Maybe a shiny Pokemon will be added to the collection here?
4 North Province Area One
North Province Area 1 has the same ice-type Pokemon available as Area Three, as the two areas bleed into the Glasaedo Mountain, and there are some frosty Pokemon that leak through.
This is one of the places that gamers don't need to venture to for ice-types but it is worth taking a look in case any of the Pokemon have been missed while out exploring. Maybe the player will find a mass outbreak of an ice-type and that increases the chance of a shiny here?
3 Northern Paldean Sea And All Of The North Ocean
In the quest to collect all ice-types, gamers will need to surf the ocean to acquire this water/ice-type Pokemon. The original Kanto Pokemon, Cloyster, can be found in the northern oceans of Paldea.
Also found in the North Paldean Sea are Bergmite, Avalugg, and Eiscue. But Cloyster is the only one exclusive to this area. The bivalve Pokemon has an insane 180 defense, and it is a great addition to the roster. Rika and Larry of the Elite Four are masters of ground and flying respectively and Cloyster could help massively with this task.
2 Casseroya Lake
Another place to find Avalugg is here at Casseroya Lake, the iceberg Pokemon is found by random spawn, but also there are four static spawn of Avalugg a level 54, two 55s, and a level 56. This ice-type is a tank of Pokemon with 184 defense and 127 attack, it is a powerhouse and one to add to the collection.
Also, available in Casseroya Lake is a Pokemon with an interesting wild tera battle, a level 55 Drednaw who normally is a water/rock type. A level 55 Drednaw with an ice tera type can be found in this area, and it is an interesting one for the collection.
1 The Great Crater of Paldea
When you have completed the main part of the game, the Great Crater of Paldea opens up to the player. Here gamers can find Paradox Pokemon, Ancient Pokemon on Scarlett, or Future Pokemon on Violet. Just one of these Pokemon is ice type, and it is exclusive to Violet only.
Iron Bundle, the future form of Delibird, is an ice/water type, this early into the game not much is known about these elusive Paradox Pokemon but they can be found in this area once the main questline is finished.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
