The world of Pokemon is vast, and with the release of Scarlet &Violet, it's just gotten a whole lot bigger. In the latest games, Trainers are sent to the region of Paldea, once again tasked with rising up the ranks in battle, exploring the diverse terrains, and of course, catching them all.

To do this, however, the player must test their skills and assemble a party of Pokemon best equipped to beat the challenges thrown at them. Whether you have an affinity to Water types like Misty and Nessa, or simply see their value from a strategic standpoint, Scarlet & Violet include several Pokemon that players will not want to pass up on, no matter which 'Treasure Hunt' path they take.

8 Casseroya Lake - Home Of Two Tera Types

Water Tera type Vaporeon and West Sea Gastrodon found in Scarlet & Violet.

Casseroya Lake is the largest body of water found in Paldea, which can be seen in the northwest area of the map. Fans of previous generations will be able to find Pokemon such as Azumarill, Golduck, Pelipper, Slowpoke, Slowbro, and Gastrodon (West Sea).

One of the biggest draws to Casseroya Lake is the Water Tera type Bellibolt, an electric Pokemon new to Scarlet & Violet. For Trainers looking for a rare appearance, a Vaporeon with this Tera Type can also be caught here. This Pokemon can be found in a small pool just west of the main lake.

7 West Province (Area Two) - Ocean

Water type Paldean Tauros and Cloyster seen in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

While Area Two of West Province doesn’t have many bodies of water to discover Water types, the Ocean is home to several fantastic Pokemon to add to your party. This includes Qwilfish, Mareanie, and Barraskewda, with the rarer spawns being Cloyster, Toxapex, and Gyarados.

Those playing Pokemon Violet will be given the opportunity to capture a Fighting/Water Paldean Tauros, although encountering it will be incredibly rare. This Pokemon can be found wandering the grasslands of West Province and can be recognized by its spiraling tails and the blue markings on its mane.

6 East Province (Area Two) - Beach

Wugtrio and Toxapex just evolved in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

By following the two rivers to the ocean in Area Two of the East Province, Trainers will find a beach full of Water Pokemon that can also move around on land. The most common sightings in this area are Mareanie, which will also add a Poison type to your lineup, as well as Marill, Shellos, and Shellder.

One of the brand new Pokemon debuting in Scarlet & Violet is Wiglett, a Water-type similar to Diglett but not a Paldean form. While you can get the evolved form Wugtrio at level 26, there is a chance of running into one along the beach. There is also a slight chance of running into a fully evolved Toxapex, which will add a solid defense to your team.

5 East Province (Area Three) - Ocean Area

The ocean area in the East Province is an ideal spot for fans of fish-inspired Pokemon designs, with Finneon, Lumineon, Alomomola, Bruxish, Veluza, Barraskewda, and Luvdisc spawning frequently, any time of the day. Exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet, Skrelp and its evolved form Dragalge can be found in this area, while Pokemon Violet players can catch Clauncher and Clawitzer.

One of the debuting Pokemon in both Scarlet & Violet, also found in the ocean of East Province, is Finizen. After reaching level 38 in the Union Circle multiplayer mode, Finizen will evolve into Palafin. While Palafin may look weak at first glance, it will transform into its powerful Hero Forme after returning in a battle.

4 Tagtree Thicket - Lake

Tatsugiri and Dondozo debuting in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Tatsugiri comes in Curly Form, Droopy Form, and Stretchy Form, all of which reside at the lake in Tagtree Thicket. Being both a Water and Dragon-type Pokemon gives this Pokemon an incredible edge, as it combats Water’s weakness to Grass and Electric types. Tatsugiri also has excellent Special Attack stats, making its Dragon-type moves even more formidable.

Trainers looking for the newest Water additions in Scarlet & Violet will find Dondozo and Veluza at the Tagtree Thicket, while older Pokemon such as Drednaw, Whiscash, Golduck, Slowbro, and Basculin will also surface.

3 More Water Tera Types Found On Land

Water Tera type Jigglypuff and Garchomp found in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Tera type Pokemon are brand new to Scarlet & Violet, allowing Trainers to capture special Pokemon that can change to alternative types in battle. This mechanic will offer new type combinations to Pokemon that have not been previously associated with them, as well as a unique crystal-clad appearance.

A Jigglypuff with the Water Tera type can be found in Area three of the South Province on the lower ground, while a Garchomp who can Terastallize into a Water-type can be caught in Area Two of the West Province.

2 Any Lake Or Ocean

Gyarados and Slowking found in all lakes and oceans in Scarlett & Violet.

While some Pokemon will only show in specific locations, it doesn’t mean you won’t discover some powerful ones in any body of water. The best example of this is Gyarados, who has been a staple for many Trainers since the first generation of the franchise. After getting through the awkward Magikarp stage, Trainers will be awarded with this powerful Water/Flying type at Level 20. There is also a chance of running into a fully evolved Gyarados, although it is a rarer spawn.Another Pokemon not limited to a specific watery location is Slowpoke. When evolved into Slowking, it can learn some useful moves, such as Nasty Plot, which will sharply raise its Special Attack.

Barraskewda can be found in most watery locations in Paldea and is an ideal Pokemon to add to your team early in the game, especially for its high Attack and Speed stats. When given the Assault Vest item, which can be purchased at the Delibird Presents shop, the Special Defense boost will make Barraskewda a great all-rounder.

1 North Province (Area Three) - Water Paradox Pokemon

Iron Bundle found exclusively on Pokemon Violet

While the River and Ocean in Area Three of North Province offers a diverse selection of Water-type Pokemon, the biggest prize in this area can be caught in the grass after completing the game. The Pokemon Iron Bundle may look like Delibird, but it is, in fact, a much stronger alternative. This robotic Ice/Water type has great Speed and Special Attack stats, allowing it to strike hard and fast.

Iron Bundle is one of the 14 Paradox Pokemon released that is exclusive to Violet, which are split into two categories - Ancient and Future. Iron Bundle can be found in several other areas, including Area Zero, which can be accessed after Path of Legends, Victory Road, and Starfall Street have been completed.
