A player has expressed their frustrations concerning the rarity of apricorn balls in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and found that many other players share the same view. With players not being able to craft Poke Balls out of apricorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they must instead come across them through good fortune.

While Poke Balls made out of apricorns could be crafted en masse in previous Pokemon titles, the only way players can obtain them in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is through reaching milestones in their Pokedex or by being lucky enough to find them at the Porto Marinada auction house or following a successful academy tournament win. Due to how difficult they are to obtain, balls fashioned out of apricorns are particularly desirable to fans who like to catch rare Pokemon in their corresponding Poke Balls.

Taking to Reddit, user -Batterskull- pointed out that not only are apricorn balls incredibly rare, but they do not possess the stats to warrant the difficulty that goes into obtaining them. Despite their niche uses, several Poke Balls fashioned out of apricorns are nonetheless commonly outperformed by balls such as the Quick and Timer Ball, meaning their only real purpose is as a flex to be used when catching shinies or event Pokemon, such as the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Cinderace. This is particularly evident with the existence of the Beast Ball, which has no added benefits within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet due to the absence of Ultra Beasts and, as a result, is weaker than a standard Poke Ball.

Proposing an alternative means of obtaining the rare types of Poke Ball, -Batterskull- suggested being able to purchase apricorn balls repeatedly for a high price, meaning players with the funds would be able to collect large amounts of their favorite ball without having to wait for them to show up at the auction house. Other users suggested the implementation of a quest that would allow players to gather materials and take them to someone who could transform them into apricorn balls in a manner similar to how apricorns can be farmed in Pokemon Legends Arceus. However, some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players defended the rarity of apricorns, arguing that they are to Poke Balls what shinies are to regular Pokemon.

With apricorn balls being so scarce within the latest set of Pokemon games, players are being tasked with conserving them for just the right occasion - though many unlucky users have been unable to find more than one of a single apricorn ball type, which might be a little too rare for a game in which Shiny Pokemon are too common.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
