A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan created a pixel-art version of Bellibolt to make it look like a Generation 2 Pokemon from Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet comes out on November 18 and will bring a variety of new pocket monsters to capture, including the recently announced Pokemon Bellibolt.

Bellibolt is the latest pocket monster announced for the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This Electric-type Pokemon is a rotund and squishy amphibian with a green body and orange patterns on its head, back, lower body, and feet. Its belly button produces a tremendous amount of electricity that unleashes a devastating attack when it is discharged by the two bumps on its head that look like eyeballs. Bellibolt also introduces a new ability to the Pokemon series called Electromorphosis. When an enemy hits Bellibolt, it boosts the power of its next Electric-type attack.

On Reddit, The_Internet_Goblin shared an original artwork of Bellibolt in the style of Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. The pixel-art version of Bellibolt bears its main features, with its round body, the bumps on its head that look like eyeballs, and its actual eyes right above its smiling mouth. Along with this image, the artist shared an animated version of a wild encounter with Bellibolt, just as it would appear in Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.

Some Pokemon fans noticed a resemblance between Bellibolt and an early design of Politoad, from Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Before turning into a cute baby toad, the early designs of Politoad made it look like a sitting frog with its eyes placed as bumps on its head. The nostrils of Politoad’s early design, placed above a smiling mouth, are similar to Bellibolt’s eyes. Moreover, Politoad had a circular pattern on its belly while Bellibolt has a round gray circle with its electric belly button.

Bellitoad is not the only Pokemon with a similar design to another Pokemon from a previous Generation. Last month, The Pokemon Company broadcasted a fake webinar to introduce a new Water-type Pokemon Wiglett. This creature looks like a long, white version of Diglett, a popular Pokemon introduced in the first Generation with Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. During the fake webinar, The Pokemon Company explained that Wiglett wasn’t a regional version of Diglett, despite their resemblance.

Including Bellitoad and Wiglett, there have been 19 Pokemon announced for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. To begin their adventure in the Paldea region, players can pick either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, which are respectively the Grass-type, Fire-type, and Water-type starter Pokemon for Generation 9. Fidough and Lechonk already took over the hearts of Pokemon fans, while Koraidon and Miraidon feature on the covers of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 18.
