With just days to go until the annual Pokemon Day festivities, Pokemon revealed the preliminary notes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Patch 1.2.0. The patch is slated to come at the end of February and will bring back a feature that was initially missing from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as well as address some of the bugs that continue to mar the experience of these games.

It is no secret that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have been riddled with bugs and performance issues since the games launched in November 2022, as seen by some of the unused building data that was recently uncovered. Lately, both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have made efforts to address as many of them as they can, with feedback provided by players on social media. While Patch 1.2.0 looks to address some of the outstanding bugs, only time will tell if and when future updates will keep the trend going.

In addition to addressing bugs, such as ones related to Dodonzo and Zoroark that caused the moves and abilities of these Pokemon to behave incorrectly in certain battles, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will bring back Box features that were not part of the launch. This will allow trainers to move items and Pokemon, as well as change nicknames, ribbons, and moves while in the Box. Plus, some Pokemon and NPC spawn points will be cut down in the game, which could have an adverse effect on Shiny Hunting for specific Pokemon. It is currently not known if these spawning changes will address the games' performance issues or not. Click here to read the patch notes.

The patch notes arrived with just over a week to go until Pokemon Day 2023 on February 27. As a result, fans speculated on social media that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Patch 1.2.0 will come on the same day. However, Pokemon stated that the full list of changes will be released whenever the patch goes live. Whether this includes some long-awaited performance and frame rate fixes or something else entirely remains to be seen.

This weekend, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have a new Tera raid battle to tide them over, as Garchomp and Sylveon will appear in four-star and five-star Tera raid dens across Paldea. These Pokemon can have any type as their Tera-type, but a well-prepared and coordinated team will make short work of these bosses. Between that and the hype surrounding the potential reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, this looks to be a busy February for Pokemon trainers.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
