Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will finally get a new trailer during the Pokemon Presents event, after over two months since the last video popped up, and fans are excited to know more about the Gen 9 games and what they entail. There are still many big mysteries surrounding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, such as the region's name, what the battle gimmick is, what sort of new forms will be present, and the appearance of the starters' evolutions. The news drought that began after Gen 9 was officially revealed in February made it so that the only major bits of information about the game come from alleged leaks.

The most prominent Pokemon leaker is called Riddler Khu, who managed to provide correct information about Pokemon Legends: Arceus months before its release. Khu shared hints regarding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's third Legendary recently, as well as some of the new pocket monsters that will be available in Gen 9. Today, Khu came back with more hints about an entirely new species, which could be an ancient whale Pokemon.

With one tweet, Khu shared the image of an existing whale Pokemon called Wailmer, but with a twist -- Wailmer is depicted as having a beard, and Khu's comment alongside the picture is "coughing," which could indicate an old creature. Fans were quick to point out that this could be a new form for Wailmer, but Khu's subsequent tweet makes it clear that it's more likely a new Pokemon species entirely, rather than a gimmick for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, the second tweet is actually a retweet from another user who shared a picture of an ancient whale, which has legs and arms.

The image of the ancient whale is quite correct in regard to the cetacean's appearance in past times, and it would be interesting to see how this applies to a new whale-like Pokemon species in Gen 9. The only existing whale species in the games is that of Wailmer and Wailord, with the Pokemon Kyogre being very much inspired by whales as well. Still, these are all Gen 3 Pokemon, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could finally introduce more whale pocket monsters according to Khu, possibly even a species that evolves to become bipedal, considering the presence of arms and legs.

Recently, Khu also hinted at an ostrich critter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which could be a Psychic-type and bear some resemblance to Cleopatra, according to leaks. It's possible that the Pokemon Presents showcase on August 3 will finally shed light on some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet rumors, while also showcasing some new Pokemon species during the trailer.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
