Though the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan base seems to be enamored by Lechonk, one of the game’s newly introduced Pokemon, many other fans also seem to be equally taken by both Pawmi and Smoliv. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s second trailer only gave short previews of these new Pokemon, and the online community is already overflowing with fan art and community-created pieces. So it is not surprising that yet another fan has made their own variations of the new Grass type Pokemon Smoliv.

Avid fans will likely recall that Smoliv received part of the limelight in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s second trailer. In the footage, Smoliv was used to showcase how the Pokemon catching process will go in the new open-world video game. With its crying face and petite figure, Smoliv seems to have captured the hearts of Pokemon community members and inspired them to create artwork based on the cute Pokemon.

On Reddit, user annmamax drew a set of Smolivs in different variations. One Smoliv is the typical green color based on the Pokemon’s official look in the game, while the other two are colored differently. One is black while the other is red. According to the official Pokemon Scarletand Violet Pokedex description, Smoliv is an Olive Pokemon. And since there are three general color categories for real-life olives, it seems accurate for the artist to draw the Pokemon in these shades.

Due to the artist’s work, some fans realized that the Pokemon was actually inspired by the real-life olive fruit. Annmamax’s fan art also opened up community conversation on the shiny versions in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Some commenters hoped that one of Smoliv’s shiny designs will be based on the black olive. However, until official information is revealed by the development team, fans will just have to settle for these kinds of ideas and speculations.

With the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet still a few months away, the fanbase is likely hoping that more information will be revealed soon. Though the main Pokemon in the series, such as the legendaries and starters, have already been unveiled, the community is probably anticipating that future updates will provide a longer list of new pocket creatures. Hopefully both Nintendo and Game Freak do not disappoint and the new Pokemon introduced in the future will get the same love and attention from the fan base.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launches for the Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
