The world of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is full of interesting secrets and curious details, and now, a player has discovered a very disturbing one in one of the game’s school yards. The appearance of Drifloons in this place has disturbing implications for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet setting, the Paldea region, making it look much darker than it is at first glance.

Released last year, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet followed the tradition of creating a sprawling 3D world like Pokemon Sword and Shield. In them, Pokemon trainers were able to explore a fully open world with several significant, interesting details, which helped to make them some of the most successful titles of the franchise. In fact, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were such a huge hit that they surpassed the sales of Sword and Shield only two months after the release.

Now, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player SaturnLink has shared quite a disturbing discovery on social media. In an image from the title, it’s possible to see a few Drifloons on top of the school yard at night. The Ghost-type Pokemon is known for stealing children away, which makes this detail even more disturbing when the player knows that. As these Pokemon look like balloons, it would be fairly easy to trick kids into holding them before they could fly to the afterlife. Curiously, Drifloons heavily dislike children, according to their description on the Pokedex, so if they were visiting schools at night, they were surely up to no good.

In the comment section, some users joked about this probable Easter egg, saying that the school was probably their hunting ground and that its child disappearance rate could be higher than Hogwarts, where students keep disappearing literally all the time. Others argued that it could be a smart strategy devised by teachers to keep kids from breaking curfew and wandering around at night. Fortunately, however, no Drifloons will be actually taking kids or Pokemon away onscreen during Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which guarantees a safe experience for young players.

In related news, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be getting a new story DLC in 2023 and 2024, which will be divided into two parts. So, it seems that Pokemon fans will be able to learn even more secrets as Paldea is expanded. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is set to add new locations to the title, giving more content, story, and places for gamers to explore, as well as the chance of meeting more Legendary Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
