  • A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player broke the rules of their "Dragons only" Nuzlocke run by capturing a Shiny creature of a different type.
  • Other gamers found this outcome amusing and suggested sending the Shiny to another game, but the player decided to abandon their Dragon-type run and start an Electric-type run instead.
  • Not all players attempting the Nuzlocke challenge are as unlucky, as another player captured a Shiny without any restrictions and continued their journey.

A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player recently ruined their attempt at a Nuzlocke run using only Dragon-type Pokemon by finding and capturing a Shiny creature from a different type. Many hardcore gamers attempt Nuzlocke runs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, yet not all finish them following their strict rules, as sometimes a Shiny Pokemon is too interesting to ignore.

A Nuzlocke run is a self-imposed Pokemon challenge. It comes with two hard rules: any Pokemon that faints can no longer be used in the run, and only the first Pokemon found in each area can be captured. However, players often try to add more rules to the challenge, such as catching only a single type of Pokemon, not healing with items, or only using the same number of monsters as the opponents, for instance, which can increase the difficulty of the challenge even more.

Now, one Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gamer called torHek24 decided to abandon the initial rules of their attempt at a Nuzlocke run using only Dragon-type Pokemon because of a Shiny Shinx. TorHek24 found the creature right in one of the starting areas of the game and used that chance to capture it. This directly contradicted the nature of the challenge, as Shinx is an Electric-type monkey Pokemon, but the opportunity was too good to pass, considering shinies have only 1 chance out of 4096 to appear, and the player decided to go for it.

In the comments of the Reddit post, most fans thought this was a hilarious outcome to happen right at the beginning of a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Nuzlocke run, and gave the OP the idea to just capture the creature anyway and send it to another game to maintain the run intact. In any case, torHek24 answered that they would instead abandon the dragons and try an Electric-type run now to accommodate for capturing the Shiny. At least this way, they could continue the challenge and keep the rare Shinx during the rest of the game.

However, not all gamers attempting the challenge are as unlucky as torHek24. Recently, another Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player captured a Shiny at the beginning of their Nuzlocke Run. In this case, the Pokemon player Firedarkness1101 found a Shiny Tarountula along Poco Path, one of the starting areas of the game. As they were not following a specific type-limited run, they captured without regrets and continued their journey.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
