A Pokemon fan has shared a long-lost rare GameCube game that had been gathering dust in their closet for many years before being found again. The Pokemon series of games has spawned not only the main games that gamers have grown to love over the years but also spin-off titles and unique entries, such as what this one fan recently dug up. This particular Pokemon title isn't exactly a game, and what makes it rare for US gamers is that it was only available in one store when it first debuted almost 20 years ago.

Although PokemonScarletandViolet just launched, fans have also been focusing on classic moments from the past, such as the famous Squirtle Squad anime scene that one gamer recently recreated using pixel art. One pair of nostalgic Pokemon games, PokemonRubyandSapphire, went on to become a favorite Pokemon generation for many fans; it was even granted a remake with PokemonOmegaRubyandAlphaSapphire for the Nintendo 3Ds in 2014.

A Pokemon fan recently discovered a scarce GameCube title called PokemonBox: Rubyand Sapphire while digging through a box of old games in their closet back at their parent's home. The PokemonBox is not a game but rather a storage system that allows players to store up to 1500 Pokemon and even play PokemonRubyandSapphire on their televisions. Other fans congratulated the gamer on their lucky find, stating that this title is currently going for big bucks on eBay. This recent gem of a find wasn't the only thing intriguing fans online; another avid Pokemon collector also showed off their extensive Pokemon figurine collection they had gathered over many years.

PokemonBox was harder to find In North America because it was only available to purchase at one store, the New York Pokemon Center. The European version could be acquired in a few different ways. Fans could get it by buying the GameCube Pokemon Colosseum Mega Pak, which included a copy of PokemonColosseum, a memory card, and the GameCube-Game Boy Advance Link Cable. It was also available as a standalone title, or players could order a limited number of them through the Stars Catalog on the Nintendo of Europe website. Now that Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are finally on Switch, perhaps older Pokemon titles such as PokemonRubyandSapphire could be added to Nintendo Switch Online. Time will tell, but it's looking good for Pokemon fans who prefer previous generations.

PokemonRubyandSapphire may have come out over a decade ago, but to some gamers, it's one of the Pokemon games that have aged the best. Generation 3 will likely always hold a special place in fans' hearts, from its cool-looking legendaries to new game mechanics. If anything, this recent find may have inspired others to dig up their lost, forgotten Pokemon collections.
