An incredibly talented Pokemon fan created a dynamic diorama that used custom-made figures of Paras and its evolved form, Parasect. The impressive art piece was shared online, gathering a variety of comments from fellow fans.

Paras was among the 151 Pokemon that were featured in the series' first generation of games. The orange Bug/Grass type monster resembles a cicada in its nymph stage and can be identified by the dotted mushroom-like parasites that grow on the back of its body. Upon reaching level 24, Paras can evolve into Parasect, adopting a single large parasitic mushroom that covers the critter's entire back. One Pokemon fan, a Reddit user who goes by the name samheck, has made a moving diorama featuring the Paras and Parasect duo.

A video of samheck's work that was shared on the Pokemon subreddit showed wood carved figures of Paras and Parasect sitting on some foliage that was placed on a rotating stand. Some community members praised samheck's diorama, while others found themselves thinking about the horrific lore of the two Pokemon that acted as samheck’s subjects. Paras, which is among the best Grass-type Pokemon in Generation 1, becomes completely overtaken by the parasites on its back when it evolves into Parasect.

Due to its terrifying backstory, Parasect has even been compared to the infected from The Last of Us series of adventure games developed by Naughty Dog and Sony. Specifically, Parasect is similar to the Clickers in The Last of Us, which are monstrosities that possess superhuman strength and are completely controlled by the Cordyceps brain infection that has afflicted them. Clickers are blind, but have enhanced hearing that they use to detect and attack other creatures.

Some Pokemon fans have become wary of art featuring Paras and Parasect as there have been previous works that highlighted the horrors of the parasitic fungus that settled on the two insectoids' backs. One artist, a Reddit user named PoliMarley42_Art, drew a concept of a mixed evolution between Chikorita and Paras. PoliMarley42_Art also made macabre illustrations that featured Chikorita's evolved forms, Bayleef and Meganium.

Paras and Parasect are not the only Pokemon with scary backstories. Ghost-type Pokemon like the adorable looking Drifblim and Phanthump actually have tragic Pokedex entries that would make any aspiring Pokemon champion think twice about throwing a Poke Ball. A lot of non-Ghost type Pokemon also have disturbing backgrounds, like Cubone, Drowzee, and Hattrem.
