The Pokemon franchise is full of bizarre pocket monster designs inspired by weird real-life objects, animals, and even vegetables. Oddish is one of the original 150 Pokemon, and it stands out for seemingly being based on a root vegetable or plant bulb. One Pokemon fan celebrates this strange little creature by making a watercolor painting featuring Oddish.

Oddish is a dual-type Grass/Poison Pokemon that can be found in various grassy routes and forests throughout the Pokemon games. It's most widely associated with the Kanto region in the Gen 1 Pokemon titles and has made several appearances in the anime as well. This creature is known for having two final evolutions: it becomes Vileplume on contact with a Leaf Stone and Bellossom on contact with a Sun Stone.

Redditor Amystis_ shared a watercolor painting of Oddish that captures the Pokemon's strange design and cheerful attitude. This isn't the first time a Pokemon fan has tried to capture Oddish in fan art, but it may be one of the happiest-looking renditions. Oddish's distinctive shape, being a little round blue ball with green leaves sprouting from its head, makes it very easy to recognize. Amystis_ used this unique design to create an especially excited-looking Oddish.

In the painting, an Oddish is shown jumping into the air with a big grin on its face, much like in some of the Pokemon's official art. The Oddish has bright red eyes, an open pink mouth, and one foot raised. This creates the illusion that the Pokemon is jumping forward and preparing to bounce off its lifted foot. Splashes of blue and green cover the painting's surface in large splotches of color, with the blue concentrated on Oddish's body and the green concentrated on its leaves. An additional splash of yellow at the tips of the leaves creates a sense of depth, while drops of purple are scattered around the edges of the painting.

As of writing, it appears that other fans are impressed by Amystis_'s take on Oddish. One user noted that the Oddish looks incredibly happy, as though it's jumping out of water and announcing its presence. Given that the Pokemon games describe Oddish with a habit of burying itself during the day and popping out at night, this might make sense. A second user joked that the watercolor painting turns Oddish into a Water-type Pokemon, though the painting's backdrop is abstract enough that it's hard to tell where this Oddish is supposed to be. Oddish could well be popping out of the ground rather than water.
