Mimikyu is an interesting Pokemon, as it wears a disguise intended to make itself more appealing, while hiding its true nature. Mimikyu's real appearance is considered to be so terrifying that people and Pokemon would faint or even die from seeing it, so its adherence to wearing a Pikachu disguise is probably for the best. However, this fan evolution throws off that disguise, revealing much more of the terrifying Pokemon that's been hiding beneath it all this time.
Pokemon Fusion Art Combines Togepi and Mimikyu
A Pokemon fan comes up with a design combining the adorable Fairy-type Pokemon, Togepi, with the more mischievous Fairy/Ghost-type, Mimikyu.
Pokemon fan Zacynthius shared their concept with Reddit, revealing the new pocket monster Mimiasma. According to the lore they've invented for the Pokemon, something has set off its rage in this form, leading to it partially discarding its disguise. The shining eyes and long, thorn-covered limbs are a bit creepy to look at. In this form, Mimiasma gains "Wrathful Aura," which triggers opposing Pokemon to flee or retreat when Mimiasma enters a battle. Its Dark-type moves are amplified by 1.2x, and its speed and attack have been changed to 133 and 151, respectively.
Both the concept and the art, which was produced by poketrainervb, have gained a lot of attention and appreciation from the fanbase. Some have suggested that this could be a unique evolution for Mimikyu that only triggers if the Pokemon has a low Friendship Level upon reaching its evolution stage. Another noted that it would make a lot of sense for this to be an alternate form for Mimkyu, rather than a full-fledged evolution. Others still lamented the fate of the Mimkyu that evolved into this Mimiasma, as according to the original lore, Mimikyu just wants to be loved and accepted. The existence of this form would seem to indicate that it failed in achieving that and has allowed its wrath to reach out instead.
Whether Mimikyu will ever receive an official evolution or alternate form remains to be seen. Nothing of the sort has been announced for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's remaining DLC, making it unlikely to happen soon. Regardless, it's clear that Pokemon players really like Mimikyu, with plenty of unique fanart and even official PokemonMimikyu Build-a-Bears being sold. The Pokemon's cute disguise, combined with its search for a trainer that can appreciate it, seems to have endeared the odd creature to many fans.
