A Pokemon fan artist had the amazing idea of giving Milotic a mega evolution. Officially Pokemon has over 1,000 monsters, but in practice, this number is even higher when considering variants. Each generation of games brings a different concept that gives Pokemon new appearances, and spices up the experience of playing Pokemon.

One of the different gimmicks introduced to players in nine generations of Pokemon games is the mega evolution. The mechanic debuted in Gen 6 and consisted of giving Pokemon temporary evolutions. Not all Pokemon have earned the mega evolution treatment, but the Pokemon that got one changed their look quite a bit. The mega evolution mechanic caused such a shock among Pokemon fans, with some pointing out its simliarity to evolutions in Digimon.

Reddit user MarceloGiribaldi shared fan art that imagines what it would look like if Milotic had a mega evolution. Fans first saw the Water-type Pokemon in Gen 3 and learned about its curious history. Milotic's pre-evolution Feebas has a rather unattractive appearance and is ignored even by other Pokemon. When Feebas evolves, however, its look completely changes as Feebas transforms into the beautiful Milotic. MarceloGiribaldi's fan art elevates Milotic's original design by creating a mega evolution with a rainbow-colored body, blue antennae, a pearl on its forehead, and three pearls on the tip of its tail. Previously the same artist made fan art giving Flygon a neat mega evolution.

While mega evolutions have generated a lot of debate among fans and created a strange relationship with Pokemon, Gen 9 brought new gimmicks with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. One of these mechanics is the Terastal phenomenon, a temporary transformation that gives Pokemon a gem-like appearance. According to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lore, the Terastal phenomenon was discovered 140 years ago and still is very mysterious. The energy emitted by the crystals that cause this phenomenon is also responsible for the existence of Paradox Pokemon, another popular Gen 9 gimmick.

MarceloGiribaldi's fan art achieves the improbable by transforming Milotic into an even more elegant Pokemon. Milotic has one of the most beautiful Pokemon designs and a story that is equivalent to the Ugly Duckling fairy tale. The creativity of Pokemon fans is famous in the gaming world, as is the community's high engagement with the franchise. One of the most entertaining aspects of being a Pokemon fan is fan art creation, which makes the experience of being part of this community even more fun.
