In 1998 the Pokemon film The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back came out based on the animated series and directed by Kunihiko Yuyama. Thanks to Netflix, the Pokemon film is getting a CGI update and fans are going crazy over the new Team Rocket look.

In 1997 the Pokemon animated series was released and just a year's time, the first movie came to theaters. The movie briefly held the honor of the highest-grossing animated film, until it was dethroned two weeks later by the release of Toy Story 2.

Now, social media has been lighting up over the past few days after the re-release of the film debuted on February 27th.  Twitter user Doodledoon praised the new look saying, "LOOK AT THEM!" and  "I never gave up on them." Many fans were skeptical before the release and some fans still have mixed feelings about the look of the rest of the cast, but in general, the internet is obsessed with Team Rocket.

The new movie is called Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution and follows a similar storyline as the original. The remake released last Thursday on Netflix and is quickly gaining momentum among fans who are still talking about it. Many are mourning the missing Viking version of Team Rocket from the original movie, but there is plenty of debate about this. One fan notes how they weren't into the Netflix movie until Team Rocket showed up in the Lapras boat and now they're fully on board.

Apart from a few outliers who have issues with the look of characters like Ash and Misty, many fans are fully on board for the rest of the movie. Fans across the board are praising the adaptation saying it was just as good as the original but that Team Rocket was the stand out members of the cast.  Jessie, James, and even Meowth are receiving high praise in the community for transferring over so flawlessly to CGI.

Fans are lovin the brand new look of Team Rocket

Pokemon's Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution is available right now exclusively on Netflix.
