While there are now eight generations of Pokemon games with tons of unique Pokemon and typing variations, fans still often take the time to create their own creatures. Sometimes an artist will imagine an entirely new Pokemon with a unique typing, or make a piece of Pokemon crossover art that merges with another series such as Animal Crossing. In this case, one artist wondered what a fusion of Mewtwo and Giratina would look like, and the result looks pretty awesome.

Pokemon fusion art is a popular way for fans to make use of their talents and imaginations to create some insane Pokemon. There are close to 900 official Pokemon in existence, which adds up to a dizzying amount of potential fusion combos. Often times fusions will cross-generation borders, as with a Beedrill/Torterra fusion or a Rapidash/Milotic fusion. The Mewtwo/Giratina fusion takes a first-generation classic and combines it with one of the most fearsome-looking Pokemon from Gen 4 to make Giratwo, a Pokemon absolutely no one should mess with.

In Reddit user mammuth_89's incredible imagining of Giratwo, the Pokemon strikes Mewtwo's classic pose. However, instead of Mewtwo's typical solid purple coloring on its belly and tail, Giratwo inherits Giratina's stripe pattern and black underside to make a much darker underbelly and tail. Giratwo looks as if it's adorned with golden armor, taking Giratina's rings and crown and making them look even more regal and fierce. The ghostly wings really finish off the look, and it seems likely there would be many trainers eager to catch a Giratwo should it be added to the Pokemon list.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Giratwo fusion is its typing. Mammuth_89 decided it to be a Ghost/Psychic-type, which would make it the first Pokemon in existence with that type ordering. It would not be the first Pokemon to have the Ghost and Psychic combo type, as Pokemon Moon Legendary Lunala and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Mythical Hoopa both have these types. But both Lunala and Hoopa are listed as Psychic/Ghost, making Giratwo the first Pokemon with this combo to have Ghost as the primary type.

Fusing the power of two Legendary Pokemon means Giratwo would have some serious strength in battle. Going by base stat totals, Mewtwo and Giratina both hit a whopping 680, and they both make the list of the top 10 strongest Legendary Pokemon based purely on stat totals. Powerful moves like Shadow Force or Psystrike would be devastating to opponents, but Giratwo would also be a damage tank considering Giratina's high HP and Defense. Of course, even Giratwo would likely need to watch out for Ghost/Dark attacks from Pokemon, which would be 4x super effective.
