DeNA's mobile game Pokemon Masters will celebrate its first anniversary on August 28, having become a relative fan-favorite for including beloved Pokemon trainers like Red and being willing to change after a lukewarm first impression. The developer has announced massive changes coming between now and then, with some ideas that may not sit well with all players.

In late July, Pokemon Masters will remove its Training Area and add a new stamina system. According to an in-game message, the longevity of the stamina function is flexible based on feedback, and will coincide a new "Player Rank" function that will increase their stamina gauge as they rank up. Training is being retrofitted to remove courses and supercourses, replacing them with an EX Plaza to gain items, including a new way to unlock a Sync Pair's level cap.

On that note, items like Buff Blends and Training Machines are being removed as new items are introduced, and Sync Pairs are being changed so players no longer have to unlock all their moves. Pokemon Masters will also be introducing a mechanic called "Type Skills" that activate when all of one's trainers are the same type, with more "team-based enhancements" planned for the future.

Fans can also look forward to the addition of a "Champion Stadium" and more special trainers, like the recent addition of Jessie from Team Rocket. Seasonal Sync Pairs for the summer are coming, including Steven Stone with an Alolan Sandslash, and in mid-August there will be a Legendary event featuring Sinnoh's Palkia.

Pokemon Masters is available now on Android and iOS.
