The Nintendo Switch has a variety of limited edition themed Switches, pro controllers, and other accessories. But Power A just released a new Nintendo Switch controller that should have Pokemon fans excited: a Master Ball-themed one.
The Switch has everything from an Animal Crossing New Horizons-themed console to Mario-red Joy-Cons. All of the themed controllers have been from a popular Nintendo property, ranging from Legend of Zelda to Pokemon to Splatoon.
The new Master Ball Pokeball controller for the Switch is wireless, using Bluetooth 5.3 to connect to the Switch. Unlike some of the previous controllers, which have been wired, this controller will require two AA batteries that will last for about 30 hours. It also features a two-year warranty, which is good news considering some of the older controllers have been known to have some D pad problems in the past. The case is half white, half purple with the Master Ball "M" on the top. The trigger buttons in the back and the top corners are the magenta, matching the Master ball from Pokemon.
These controllers are a beautiful and fun shout-out to the Pokemon community, which is a massive part of the Switch's fan base. Both Pokemon Sword and Shield were top 10 downloaded games on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. The Master ball is one of the 23 possible Pokeballs players can grab in the new game, and it has the amazing power to catch any Pokemon without fail. What a great ball to theme a controller around.
On the other hand, it's unfortunate the Switch has received a bunch of themed controllers without a significant fix being issued addressing the official Nintendo-made Pro Controllers' problems. Nintendo has patents for Joy-Cons with stylus attachments and ones that are bendable, but it still hasn't fixed the drift from those controllers or completely gotten rid of the potential D pad problems from the pro controller. Many gamers are more interested in having a working controller than having a pretty one, and this seems to be a running theme with the Switch's controllers.
