A very talented artist and Pokemon fan recently designed an amazing past Paradox form for Lugia, giving the legendary creature a new look. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet presented Paradox Pokemon for the first time in the series, and this has prompted countless fans to create their own Paradox forms for Pokemon, often coming up with amazing designs that show either prehistoric or futuristic versions of these creatures.
Lugia is one of the most iconic legendaries in the franchise's history, appearing in many Pokemon games over the years. The creature debuted back in Pokemon Gold and Silver in 2000, and it even starred in Pokemon: The Movie 2000. In its official design, Lugia resembles a mixture between a bird, a dinosaur, and a dragon, which makes it perfect for gaining a new past Paradox form.
A talented Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan called El-psy-congroo-01 recently designed a past Paradox form for Lugia based on a plesiosaurus. Called Silver Tide, this design has the Psychic/Water type, instead of Psychic/Flying like the original one. This Pokemon, which comes in both original and shiny versions, looks like a much more feral, ancient form of Lugia. It ditches its wings to look more like a water-based dinosaur with fins and spikes. The design also uses orange as a new color, adding a nice contrast to the original white and blue ones. The shiny version is greatly inspired by Shadow Lugia, an alternate form of the legendary creature that only appears in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, which was released for the Nintendo GameCube back in 2005.
El-psy-congroo-01 is fairly prolific with Pokemon fan art, having developed several alternative versions of creatures before, such as a futuristic Paradox form for Octillery, a Ghost-type regional variant for Blastoise, and more. In the comments of the post, most Redditors were pleased with the results, which garnered El-psy-congroo-01 over 3,000 upvotes, and some fans were even asking for more versions of legendary Pokemon, such as the Fire-based Ho-Oh, Lugia's counterpart in the second generation of Pokemon games.
Lugia's uniqueness often inspires impressive fan-made Paradox Pokemon art. For instance, another popular artist who often designs fan-made Pokemon called HertzBurst created Iron Dive, a future Paradox form for Lugia. Despite also being a Psychic/Water type just like El-psy-congroo-01’s creation, Iron Dive looks really distinct, embracing the metallic, futuristic looks of a submarine instead of an ancient plesiosaurus while maintaining the same overall design.
