Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu & Let's Go, Eevee may have been drawing some negative feedback from certain fans of Nintendo's magical monster catching RPG series, but that hasn't altered its success and popularity with others who have welcomed this tie-in to the equally popular mobile game, which encouraged players to capture every Pokemon they encountered. The newly released Switch titles do the same thing, with extra experience or the chance of finding a Shiny Pokemon being the reward. But what are players expected to do with so many Pokemon they have no plans to use just sitting in their PCs? Well, that's there transferring comes in.

Much like in Pokemon GO, Pokemon Let's Go has an option where players can exchange any Pokemon they don't need for special candies. Unlike GO where these candies evolved Pokemon (in Let's Go, that's done the traditional way with EXP), they instead improve a Pokemon's stats and thus make them tougher for the battles ahead.

To do this, players must open their Box by pressing the Y button while on the Party screen. From there, select a Pokemon and a little menu will appear. At the bottom, select "Send to professor" and the screen will turn green, allowing players to pick which Pokemon they wish to send to Professor Oak. Once all of the desired Pokemon have been selected, simply hit Y and they're sent off to Oak's lab, with Oak in turn transferring candy.

There are several different types of candy and which ones players receive depends on which Pokemon were sent to Oak. Specifically, these candies are:

  • Health - increases HP
  • Mighty - increases Attack
  • Tough - increases Defense
  • Quick - increases Speed
  • Smart - increases Special Attack
  • Courage - increases Special Defense

To get a better idea of which candy will be received, simply check what each Pokemon's highest stat is before transferring them. A Zubat, for example, has Speed as its highest stat so transferring one of them gives the player a Quick candy.
