Ever since the first Pokemon games in the '90s, players have been able to keep up to six Pokemon on their team at one time. Of course, players are able to catch way more Pokemon than that, but extra critters are automatically stored in the PC boxes for later use. However, Pokemon Legends: Arceus does things a bit different being a non-traditional Pokemon RPG. Here's how to switch and change out Pokemon on the battle team in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

How to Switch Out Pokemon

If players have been catching lots of wild Pokemon and are wondering how they are supposed to add those new Pokemon to the party, well, players can easily change their party by speaking to the NPC at a campsite. If players are doing the beginning Missions of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, they can head to the Fieldlands Camp in Obsidian Fieldlands. Players can use this person to heal their team, do some shopping, or switch Pokemon. Just make sure to choose the option that says, "I want to see my Pokemon." However, this isn't the only way to switch out Pokemon on the team.

How to Get to the Pastures in Jubilife Village

If Pokemon trainers are hanging out in Jubilife Village, they can head to the Pastures area. A woman named Marie takes charge of the extra caught Pokemon. Players can speak to her to check out all of their stored Pokemon and deposit/withdraw at their leisure. Pokemon can also be released here, which means they go away forever, and players can't get them back. This is usually done when players have multiple copies of one Pokemon and only need a select number.

Marie and the Pastures can be found south of the photography studio. From players' lodgings, they should head south over one of the river's bridges, and Marie can easily be seen. If players actually look out into the pastures, they should be able to spot some of their caught Pokemon lounging about.

Unfortunately, there is no way for Pokemon Legends: Arceus players to hold more than six Pokemon at a time. If players could hold more, it would indeed cause some balancing issues with the game's difficulty.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
