Pokemon Legends: Arceus players will find themselves catching lots of Pokemon due to the nature of there being an abundance of wild critters out in the wild. And now that players can freely toss Poke Balls in real-time, it only takes a few seconds to successfully capture most Pokemon. Players will start to fill up the Pastures very quickly as they progress through the main story missions of Pokemon Legends: Arceus collecting research points towards completing the Pokedex. And since some of the Research Tasks involve catching the same Pokemon multiple times, players will eventually start to have repeats of several Pokemon.

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players can release any of their Pokemon in Pastures or in the party, but it can't be done when traveling out in the field. Players will need to speak to a specific NPC to be able to release their Pokemon (there are actually two NPCs that can help trainers release their Pokemon).

For the players that aren't sure what releasing a Pokemon does, it basically means that once released, the Pokemon can never come back to the player , and it will be gone forever.

Releasing Pokemon at Camp

To release Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players have two options. The first option is to head back to any camp and speak to the NPC who sells items and heals Pokemon. The Galaxy Member can show the player all of their Pokemon in the Pastures if they select the option that says, "I want to see my Pokemon." From this screen, players can scroll through the various Pastures with L and R. If players want to release a Pokemon, they can hover over its icon and press the A button. The game will ask if players would like to release it, so just confirm with Yes.

Releasing Pokemon at the Pastures

The other way to release Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is to speak to Marie over at the Pastures area in Jubilife Village. It's impossible to miss if players head south from the Front Gate of the village. Speak to her to check out all the Pokemon players currently have. Occasionally, if players release a Pokemon at the Pastures, there's a chance for players to earn rewards in the form of Grit Dust, Grit Rocks, Grit Pebbles, and Grit Gravel. These items can raise the Effort Level of a Pokemon's stats.

How to Release Multiple Pokemon at Once

At the start of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will not be able to release more than one Pokemon at a time. However, once players catch lots of Pokemon and fill up at least four Pastures (about 120 Pokemon or so), the ability to release multiple Pokemon will be earned. It'll appear as an option in the bottom right-hand corner of the Pastures menu, labeled as "Release Multiple," and it can be used by pressing the X button and then selecting all the Pokemon players wish to release.
