Though the massive success of Pokemon Legends: Arceus could be directly attributed to its fresh open-world gameplay, it must be noted that the title featured numerous changes across the board. These changes varied between complete overhauls of certain mechanics to niche quality-of-life features, but combined they made Pokemon Legends: Arceus a game that surprised many players, especially longtime fans of the series.

While there were many changes added that were unprecedented for the series, such as how Pokemon Legends: Arceus changes trade evolutions, other additions were smaller yet still praised by players. One of these features was the creation of brand-new forms for the legendary Sinnoh duo Dialga and Palkia, who both received heavily warped origin forms comparable to Giratina's.

However, though Pokemon Legends: Arceus gave Dialga and Palkia new forms, Giratina was sadly left out of the mix. The obvious reason for this omission would be that Giratina already has an origin form that activates while in the Distortion World or when holding a Griseous Orb. Regardless, Giratina's origin form is incredibly different from those of Dialga and Palkia, who somewhat share the same body type as Arceus.

Because of this omission, Reddit user EliteRobo04 decided they would create a new form for Giratina that more closely matched the members of its trio as well as Arceus. The result was, as EliteRobo04 put it, a more "horselike" Giratina that looked very much like Arceus. Much like the fan art of a new Pokemon Starmie form, EliteRobo04 took inspiration from both Giratina's normal form and origin form, but they also created new lore for the form that is both inspired and chilling. The gist of the Pokedex entry is that Giratina may have adopted this form after being cast out by Arceus or that the form may be Giratina's true origin form.

One rather intense point to note about the lore of Sinnoh's legendary Pokemon is that their story paints them as the creators of reality. Arceus is the creator of all things, and created the trio so that they could govern over time (Dialga), space (Palkia), and the Distortion World (Giratina, speculated to be antimatter or gravity). Pokemon lore says that Giratina was cast into the Distortion World by Arceus due to its overly aggressive nature, and fan speculation points towards Giratina having created its own origin form, and that its goal was to separate itself physically from the other three, especially Arceus. Thus, EliteRobo04's form could easily fit into the lore as Giratina's true form that it assumed before being cast out.

It would have been amazing if Giratina also received a new form, and EliteRobo04's design would have been a great model for it. Regardless, players can still catch Giratina in Pokemon Legends: Arceus and induce its origin form, allowing for a potential team of origin form legendaries to complement one another.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available now for Nintendo Switch.
