Pokemon Legends: Arceus had a major impact on the series as a whole when it first came out, giving players a unique gameplay experience that deeply strays from the classic Pokemon formula, to the point that many fans have been vocal about a sequel ever since. The next logical step for Game Freak would be to make a Pokemon Legends Unova game that serves as this generation's revival of old games, namely Pokemon Black and White, maybe even skipping their anticipated remakes. Still, it would be interesting to eventually see a different Pokemon Legends game for each mainline region in the franchise, and even though it's the newest entry, Paldea could be an interesting one.

Given Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's focus on Paradox Pokemon and time travel in the main story, and seeing how Pokemon Scarlet specifically had past forms of existing critters, there's a lot that a Pokemon Legends Paldea game could draw inspiration from. Just because Pokemon Legends: Arceus was set in the past, it doesn't mean that every new game in this (for now) hypothetical series has to follow the same principle - in fact, a spin-off based on Gen 9 could even have two versions, one for the past and one for the future. Either way, there are a few Pokemon that could shine a lot in a Pokemon Legends Paldea game if they were given a regional form or evolution.

Pokemon That Would Make the Most Out of an Evolution or Regional Form in Paldea

Dragalge

In a Pokedex entry, Dragalge is described as a slower swimmer compared to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Finizen, and in order to attack it, the seaweed Pokemon has to approach it undercover only to then sting it with a poisonous hit. However, since Finizen's evolution, Palafin, already has a superhero theme that makes it look like a good-aligned creature, a Pokemon Legends Paldea game could feature a villainous regional form or evolution for Dragalge. This could create a new dynamic that's akin to rivalries between different species as seen in past games, and at the same time give players a new form or evolution for an already interesting creature.

Dragalge is one of the only three critters to have Dragon/Poison as a type combo alongside Naganadel and Eternatus (an Ultra Beast and a Legendary), and an evolution for it could take it to the next level.

Tsareena

Another rivalry expressed through Pokedex lore cards is that of Quaquaval and Tsareena - two dancer pocket monsters that also happen to fight with their legs over other limbs. It's probably not a coincidence that their types are directly opposed, either, with Quaquaval being Water-type and Tsareena being Grass. It would be interesting to see a version of Tsareena that is maybe weak to Quaquaval in a Pokemon Legends Paldea game, potentially even switching it to Fire-type to keep the starter trifecta gimmick going. This could justify why Tsareena eventually became a different Pokemon, as it was its way to finally beat Quaquaval in a duel.

Cetoddle

Cetoddle is one of the cutest Pokemon ever, and while it evolves into the menacing-looking Cetitan, it seems to share common ancestry with Wailmer according to the Pokedex. This whale-like Pokemon is an interesting concept because it likely drew inspiration from ancient whales, which in some cases had leg-like limbs, and a Pokemon Legends Paldea game could do several things with this. An option would be introducing a baby Pokemon shared by both Cetoddle's and Wailmer's evolutionary lines, with it being a cute little whale. Another option would be to give Wailmer a regional form, or Cetitan an evolution, making this connection more apparent.
