Munchlax is a Normal-type Pokemon introduced in the fourth generation of Pokemon games, Diamond and Pearl, and it is a pre-evolved form of Snorlax (otherwise known by fans as one of the "Baby" Pokemon). In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, patient players can find Munchlax very early on, and it's worth catching as having a Snorlax, later on, can prove to be beneficial for any battle team due to its high HP and defensive stats. In this short guide, players will learn where to find Munchlax, how to catch it, and more.
Where to Find Munchlax in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Munchlax can be found in two areas in Pokemon Legends: Arceus:
- Obsidian Fieldlands: Deertrack Heights
- Alabaster Icelands: Snowfall Hot Spring
Beginner Pokemon Legends: Arceus players will only have access to Deertrack Heights at first, so it might be best to look there instead of waiting for the Alabaster Icelands area to be unlocked. However, it's worth noting that Munchlax, at least in the Deertrack Heights area, is very rare to encounter, but it appears to have a higher chance of showing up in the nighttime instead of the daytime, but any time of the day should work.
For the exact location where Munchlax can spawn, players should head to the spot circled in red on the map below. It's a little bit northeast of the Heights Camp. Upon coming here first, players will either see Zubat, Kricketot, or other wild Pokemon. If Munchlax doesn't appear, players should either defeat the surrounding wild Pokemon spawns, or scare them away using the Scatter Bangs item.
Just make sure that the Pokemon are gone from the area, and then go back to camp, change the time of day, and head back to the Munchlax spawning point. Keep repeating this process until Munchlax shows up --it's really up to chance and RNG at this point.
Munchlax isn't a very volatile Pokemon, so it should be fairly simple to catch one with a basic Poke Ball, but players can also throw a Pokemon at Munchlax to enter a battle with it. Weaken it a little bit without killing it, and then throw a Poke Ball.
How to Evolve Munchlax into Snorlax
To evolve Munchlax in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will need to raise the Pokemon's Friendship/Happiness levels. Players can increase a Pokemon's friendship by using it in battles, leveling it up, feeding it EXP Candy, preventing it from fainting, and by using it to gather materials and resources in the field.
If players want to check Munchlax's Friendship level (or another Pokemon), they can speak to an NPC in Jubilife Village named Belamy. However, he won't be available at the start of the game. Players will first have to complete Mission 7 and calm down the Noble Pokemon Kleavor.
Belmany will give players a Request to complete, asking them to show him a Pokemon with a high friendship level. If players have their starter Pokemon still, their Happiness level should suffice. After the Request is done, Belamy's Friendship Checker will be unlocked. Bring any Pokemon to him, and he'll comment on its Happiness level.
