The Pokemon franchise continues to be massively popular thanks in large part to the various forms of media it encompasses. In addition to the tv, movies, and card games, the Pokemon video games are a major reason for the success of the IP overall. The most recent release, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, takes the familiar formula of catching and battling pocket monsters and twists it into new and fresh ways.

Taking place in the distant past of the Sinnoh region, players are part of an expedition team in charge of studying and researching wild creatures known as Pokemon. Unlike past games in the franchise, players can capture roaming Pokemon in the field without battling them first, though if a fight breaks out, a turn order is listed and can be manipulated based on various stats and other actions like using Agile Style attack moves.

While there's certainly a lot that has changed with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there's plenty that remains the same. Various items like Evolution Stones make their return in this latest title, many of which are necessary for evolving certain types of Pokemon. Here's how players can find each of them.

What Are Evolution Stones?

Originally introduced in the very first generation of games, evolution stones are an item players use to evolve certain Pokemon like Eevee. By Generation 8, the series has 10 types of evolution stones and 40 Pokemon who require them to get to their final form.

Inside of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players can come across the following evolutionary stones:

  • Water Stone
  • Thunder Stone
  • Fire Stone
  • Leaf Stone
  • Moon Stone
  • Sun Stone
  • Dawn Stone
  • Dusk Stone
  • Shiny Stone
  • Ice Stone

Where to Find Evolution Stones

Thankfully, getting these items is fairly straightforward, though it will require a bit of luck to get specific ones. Essentially, players can find most items in the large overworld throughout the Hisui Region. After obtaining Ursaluna from Mission 7, players can not only ride it but use it to sniff out items underground or ones that are hidden. This includes evolution stones, though the items are randomized, so there's no tried and true method for finding specific stones.

Using the Item Exchange

However, there is another way to obtain specific evolutionary stones. For players that don't mind spending a bit of cash, they can visit the Item Exchange at the Trading Post inside Jubilife Village. It's here that players can spend the Merit Points earned by returning lost satchels to their rightful owners. Thankfully, the Item Exchange does have evolution stones for sale, with Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Ice, Moon, and Sun Stones costing 1,000 Merit Points. However, Dawn, Dusk, and Shiny Stones are a little more expensive coming in at 1,200 Merit Points.
