The Normal-type Happiny may not be trainers' first choice of Pokemon, as it has poor Attack and Defense. However, once it evolves into Chansey and Blissey, it gains an HP base stat of 250-255. Pokemon Legends: Arceus gets rid of gym challenges and instead has players running over Hisui catching Pokemon. Regardless of whether trainers take Happiny into battle with them, recording its Pokedex entry is a requirement to complete the Pokedex for the Galaxy Team.

In previous Pokemon games, Happiny could evolve into Chansey if it had high Friendship and was holding an Oval Stone when it leveled up. While Friendship is still a mechanic in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Held Items no longer exist. This means Happiny, along with a few other Pokemon, has a new way of evolving in the Hisui region.

Finding Happiny

Happiny is a rare spawn that can be caught in three out of the five areas of Hisui. If players are lucky, there may be an outbreak of Happiny, making it much easier to find and catch them.

Here's a list of Happiny's habitats:

• Obsidian Fieldlands (Oreburrow Tunnel, Obsidian Falls)
• Cobalt Coastlands (Hideaway Bay)
• Alabaster Icelands (Avalanche Slopes)

It may be easier to hold off on catching Happiny until all Celestial Pokemon have been unlocked. The Happiny that roam the Avalanche Slopes will be easier to get to once players are able to summon the Ride Braviary.

Because Happiny's a docile Pokemon, it's easier to catch it using the Back Strike technique and throwing a Heavy Ball.

Evolving Happiny

Originally, Happiny would evolve if it had a Friendship level of 220 or higher, was holding an Oval Stone, and then leveled up once in battle. For some odd reason, Happiny's Friendship isn't a part of its evolution method in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Its evolution item (Oval Stone) no longer functions as a Held Item, but an evolutionary stone instead.

Oval Stones can be found by having Pokemon mine crystals/stones in the wild. Players that want to avoid being at the mercy of RNG can instead visit the Trading Post next to the Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village. The cost of one Oval Stone is 400 Merit Points (MP), which trainers can get by finding and returning satchels in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

While it seems Friendship has been removed from Happiny's evolution, Chansey still needs Friendship to evolve into Blissey. For those who just want Chansey, all they need to worry about is finding the Oval Stone for Happiny.
