In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there's absolutely no shortage of Electric-type Pokemon in the starting area, Obsidian Fieldlands. The first Mission assigned by Cyllene requires trainers to catch three different Pokemon, one being Shinx, an Electric-type. Players who aren't satisfied with Shinx but want an Electric-type fairly early can try their luck searching for Pichu.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus abandons the Random Encounter system and instead requires trainers to walk up to the Pokemon for battling or catching. Like all Wild Pokemon, there are common and rare types of Pokemon. Common Pokemon are everywhere and don't take long to find. Rare Pokemon, like Pichu, may only appear at certain times of the day and are usually roaming specific locations.
Pichu in the Obsidian Fieldlands
Pichu can spawn in two different areas across the Obsidian Fieldlands. The earliest it can be found is to the far right of Aspiration Hill/Fieldlands Camp. To make things even more complicated, Pichu will only appear during the day. Trainers can reset the clock by speaking to the NPC at the Fieldlands Camp. Select "Until midday" and start traveling along the river dividing the Obsidian Fieldlands.
If players are on the correct path, they'll be able to see an area with shallow water and chunks of land that can be walked along. Don't cross the river. Doing so puts trainers at risk of running into an Alpha Snorlax, who will waste no time in attacking.
Refer to the image above to find Pichu. Trainers will know they're in the right spot if there are Wurmple crawling around. If lucky, Pichu may be found wandering in the grass.
Be careful when approaching Pichu because it's a timid Pokemon and will flee on sight. Try catching it by using the Back Strike Technique. This method is done by sneaking up on a Pokemon and throwing a Poke Ball at its back. The catch rate is lower, making the chances of a successful catch much higher than throwing a Poke Ball from the front. Additionally, trainers can throw their Pokemon when Pichu's back is turned, but they risk Pichu running away if they take too long to weaken it.
Evolving Pichu
Familiar fans of the series know that Pichu evolves into Pikachu via friendship. When Pichu's friendship is high enough, level it up once to evolve it into Pikachu. Trainers can check their Friendship Level in Pokemon Legends: Arceus by speaking to Belamy by the Pastures in Jubilife Village.
The Mission " The Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods " needs to be completed first and Mission " Arezu's Predicament " needs to be accepted before Belamy can check Friendship Levels.
