Nintendo's latest entry in the Pokemon franchise has enjoyed a successful first two weeks. After launching on January 28, Pokemon Legends: Arceus received acclaim from critics and quickly sold over 6.5 million copies. Pokemon Legends: Arceus was praised for its open world-style gameplay and its bold decision to move away from the standard series formula of battling Gym Leaders to become the Pokemon League champion, instead focusing on research and discovery.Taking place in Hisui, a pre-modern version of Pokemon's Sinnoh region, Pokemon Legends: Arceus embraces the series' longstanding motto of "Gotta catch 'em all" by having the player join the Survey Corps, responsible for observing and recording data about the approximately 250 species of Pokemon residing in the newly discovered land. Players fill out their Pokedex and earn money by completing Research Tasks, such as catching a certain number of a particular Pokemon or seeing it use a certain move. The ultimate goal of the game, given to the player by the legendary Arceus itself, is to successfully complete every entry in the Pokedex.RELATED: Pokemon Legends: Arceus Live-Action Trailer Shows What Hisuian Growlithe Would Look Like in Real LifeHowever, one Pokedex entry saw Legends: Arceus players struggling far more than others: Cherrim, a Grass-type Pokemon that alternately hides or shows its face depending on whether it senses sunlight. Players reported that Cherrim, which can only be found by investigating shaking trees, were constantly escaping even high-level Pokeballs such as Ultra Balls. It was further noted that "unfurled" Cherrim were even more difficult to catch than their "furled" counterpart. Some speculated that this may be the result of a glitch occurring when Cherrim changed its form before or after battle that accidentally switched the Pokemon's catch rate to zero percent.

The Version 1.0.2 update of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, released on February 8, included in its patch notes the line "Fixed an issue that made it sometimes difficult to catch Cherrim." Although the patch notes did not clarify the cause of this glitch or what had been done to fix it, players who had installed the free update quickly took to social media to report that they had successfully been able to catch unfurled Cherrim found in shaking trees. This is especially fortunate as one in-game Request requires the player to complete Cherrim's Pokedex entry and show it to a resident of Jubilife Village.

Other updates included in Version 1.0.2 are the fixing of a glitch that caused the screen to freeze when players attempted to retrieve Lost Satchels in offline mode and the removal of an exploit that players had used to catch either Dialga or Palkia multiple times. There is no word, however, on whether a glitch that seemingly allows players to farm infinite Shiny Pokemon has been patched out as of the latest Version.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is currently available for Nintendo Switch.
