Of the 18 different types of Pokemon available in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, none are quite as well represented as the Dragon-type. With three Legendaries and two Pseudo-Legendaries available, the five best Dragon-types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus practically pick themselves. One thing that's not so clear, however, is the order in which they should be ranked.

Those looking for the very best Dragon-type Pokemon will need to weigh up a few different factors, including base stat totals, alternate forms, and secondary typings. The latter can even be used to justify adding two Dragon-type Pokemon to one's team, though choosing which two is perhaps easier said than done. This guide will hopefully be able to help a little in that regard.

Hisuian Goodra boasts fewer weaknesses and more resistances than its non-regional counterpart on account of it being a Steel / Dragon-type Pokemon. It's also completely immune to Poison-type attacks, which can come in pretty useful in certain situations. Its base stat distribution is arguably not quite as good as a regular Goodra, however, with the Hisuian variant sacrificing Speed for a little more Defense. This does make choosing a nature far easier though, with most opting for a Sassy Nature due to the Pokemon's already low Speed stat.

How to Get Hisuian Goodra in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players can catch themselves an Alpha Hisuian Goodra during the Mesprit's Trial section of the main story. Alternatively, they can evolve Hisuian Sliggoo from Level 50 onwards, though only while it's raining outside. Players can catch both Hisuian Sliggoo and its unevolved form Goomy in the Holm of Trials area of the Crimson Mirelands.

With a Speed stat over 100 and a 130 Attack stat, Garchomp has always been a bit of a fan favorite. The Pseudo-Legendary is a Dragon / Ground-type Pokemon, meaning that it's completely resistant to Electric-type attacks and can serve as an effective counter to Steel / Dragon-types like Hisuian Goodra and Dialga. Of course, its weakness to Dragon-type attacks is far from ideal in such encounters, but, as Garchomp is considerably faster than both Pokemon, it will usually be acting first. An Adamant nature works best for Garchomp.

How to Get Garchomp in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players can catch themselves an Alpha Garchomp in the Avalanche Slopes area of the Alabaster Icelands. Alternatively, they can evolve Gible or Gabite, both of which can be found in the same area, as well as in the Clamberclaw cliffs region of the Coronet Highlands. Gible evolves into Gabite at Level 24 and Gabite evolves into Garchomp at Level 48.

Being a Steel / Dragon-type, Dialga is an incredibly robust Pokemon, particularly while in its Origin Forme. Its 150 Special Attack stat allows it to hit ridiculously hard with powerful Dragon-type moves like Draco Meteor, while its 120 Defense and Special Defense stats ensure that it can take a lot of punishment if needed. Players should look for a Modest nature, which will further boost its Special Attack stat at the expense of a little Attack.

How to Get Dialga in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players will get Dialga as part of the game's main story, though when exactly will depend on their choice during the Disaster Looming mission. If they choose Irida, they'll catch Dialga at the very end of the main story. If they choose Adaman though, they'll instead get it a little earlier on. Those wishing to switch between Dialga's regular and Origin Formes will need the Adamant Crystal, which can be obtained by defeating Adaman near the Diamond Settlement in the Crimson Mirelands at any point after completing the main story.

Giratina is a Ghost / Dragon-type Pokemon with access to a huge variety of powerful attacking moves which cover just about every type imaginable. This is because its Attack and Special Attack stats remain the same regardless of its form, ensuring that players don't ever need to choose between Physical or Special attacks. Its Origin Forme is quite a bit more offensive than its Altered Forme, which only improves Giratina's versatility. This can make choosing a nature quite difficult though, with most opting for a Neutral nature like Hardy or Docile so as to keep all of their options open.

How to Get Giratina in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

In order to catch Giratina, players will need to complete the main story and then collect all of the available Arceus plates. Doing so will trigger a special battle at the Temple of Sinnoh, after which, they'll be able to find and catch Giratina in the Turnback Cave area of the Cobalt Coastlands. Catching Giratina will also reward them with the Griseous Core, which can be used to switch between the Pokemon's Altered and Origin Formes.

There really isn't all that much to choose between the three Creation Pokemon, but Palkia gets the nod over its peers for a few simple reasons. For one, Dialga shares the exact same typing as Hisuain Goodra and so is easily replaceable, while Giratina is quite a bit slower and wastes a lot of its base stats on HP. The Water / Dragon-type works best as a Special Attacker, allowing it to get the most out of powerful elemental moves like Draco Meteor and Hydro Pump. A Modest nature works best for Palkia, particularly while it's in its Origin Forme.

How to Get Palkia in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players will get Palkia as part of the game's main story, though when exactly will depend on their choice during the Disaster Looming mission. If they choose Adaman, they'll catch Palkia at the very end of the main story, whereas if they choose Irida, they'll instead catch it a little earlier on. Those wishing to switch between Palkia's regular and Origin Formes will need the Lustrous Globe key item, which can be obtained by defeating Irida near the Pearl Settlement in the Alabaster Icelands at any point after completing the main story.
