Serena is a charming Pokemon Trainer with a performance‐oriented repertoire, having set her sights on the title of Kalos Queen. She was inspired by Ash's courage and kindness as a young child, managing to find him once again many years later in Santalune City, subsequently joining Clemont, Bonnie, and Ash on their adventures.

Serena left the story in early 2017 of Pokemon XY&Z in an episode titled "Till We Compete Again!" and man did she leave an impression! As arguable one of the most popular female characters in Pokemon, fans were overjoyed to see Serena return to their screens in Pokemon Journeys.

Serena Returns To Save The Day

Pokemon Journeys Serena, Slyveon, Chloe and Eevee in "Eevee and Nymphia! Encounters and Reunions!!"

Chloe's successful first performance in episode 105 of Pokemon Journeys wouldn't have been possible without Serena's involvement, as the fashion-forward gal offers the newbie tonnes of support and encouragement regarding her new venture. Chloe had involuntarily been roped into competing in the Contest Spectacular in Lilycove City by Lisia, and was debating her decision to participate when she was lucky enough to come across Serena and Sylveon.

While chatting with Chloe, Serena is reminded of the days when she started out as a Pokemon Performer, thinking back to when her Sylveon was also still just an Eevee. She commends Chloe for allowing her Eevee to choose her own evolution, claiming that Sylveon appeared to her after a strong connection was formed between herself and her Eevee during a battle against Ash. Serena inspires her new friend to push doubt from her mind and to keep going forward, and gives Chloe valuable fashion advice during their impromptu shopping excursion. The two become quick friends, unaware of their mutual connection through Ash.

The Contest Spectacular

Pokemon Journeys Serena Sylveon, Pancham, and Delphox "Eevee and Nymphia! Encounters and Reunions!!"

Serena enthusiastically cheers Chloe on during her first performance ever, before commanding the stage herself. As expected, Serena's performance in the Contest was spectacular, using her team of Sylveon, Pancham, and Delphox to dazzle the audience with a memorable show. The first impression was established by a combination of Pancham's Evil Pulse, Delphox's Magic Flame, and Sylveon's Speed Star. This is followed by a second wave of beauty provided by a Flame Thrower from Delphox, encapsulated within Pancham's Ice Punch along with Slyveon's lightning speed, for an absolutely breathtaking result!

Lisia's presentation with Ali's Mega Evolution was equally impressive, and both girls happily end up tying for first place. It appears that Serena and Lisia might be pairing up in the future to create a duo-dream girl team, and viewers cannot wait to see the results! They are both experts in their field with uniquely fashion-forward styles, and with Serena and Lisia's combined popularity from Hoenn and Kalos, these two will undoubtedly become the reigning Queens of the performance arts.

Ash and Serena, Sitting In A Tree...

Pokemon Journeys Serena, Slyveon and Ash Reunited Episode 105

Although the storyline in Pokemon Journeys "Eevee and Nymphia! Encounters and Reunions!!" focuses mainly on Chloe Cherise, somehow the gorgeous Serena still managed to land all the attention! Fans have missed her smile and charisma, which have been absent from Ash's adventures for more than five years. Serena's popularity is elevated due to her potential romantic involvement with Ash, being the only girl who has managed to sneak in a kiss (on the lips!) in the Pokemon series.

Sadly, after all that hype regarding Ash and Serena's reunion, the pair only manage to exchange a few words before they have to part ways once again. And the most infuriating part? Well, the cute "couple" could have spent the entire episode together! However, instead of joining Chloe (and, unbeknownst to them, Serena too) at the Contest Spectacular as promised, Ash and Goh are sidetracked by their encounter with Wallace.

Naturally, Ash is coaxed into battle without much ressistance, which ends up delaying their plans and, not only did the boys completely miss Chloe and Serena's performances, but they only arrived in Lilycove City mere moments before their ship's departure. Ash runs right past Serena (cringe!) as he rushes to apologize to Chloe, and it is only in the last moments of the episode that Chloe realizes that Ash has met her before. Ash and Serena hastily exchange words, giving brief updates on their lives, the distance between them already growing as Ash and his friends sail off into the distance, off on more Pokemon adventures.
