The Pokemon franchise contains about 900 different pocket monsters for gamers to catch, train, and befriend. With the Generation 9 games now on the horizon, it appears that fans will soon have an even bigger roster of cute, cool, and sometimes creepy Pokemon to collect. One Pokemon fan is celebrating the games that came before by using a 3D printer to make figures of their Johto team.

The Johto region is the second Region that Pokemon fans were able to journey across, right on the heels of the original Kanto region. It was the setting of a good chunk of the Gen 2 Pokemon games and helped introduce a number of new features to the franchise. As a result, some of the most beloved Pokemon in the series made their entrance in the Johto region.

Redditor DarthRaxius recently made a post explaining that they'd been modeling, 3D printing, and painting their favorite Pokemon. This pastime led them to try recreating their entire Johto team: Ampharos, Kingdra, Houndoom, Crobat, Espeon, and Scizor. All of these Pokemon were introduced in the Gen 2 games. They feature some of the most striking and memorable designs in the series, and some - including Espeon and Crobat - have gone on to be franchise staples.

All of these Pokemon figures are incredibly detailed and game-accurate, complete with highly detailed paint jobs. From the tips of Espeon's tail to the raised stripes on Houndoom's back to Scizor's intricate claws, this collection of Pokemon appears to have been taken straight from the games. It's difficult to say whether the creatures are to scale with each other thanks to the franchise's history of being vague about the exact sizes of Pokemon. Regardless, each figure appears to be small enough to be held easily in the hand and large enough to make out all the painted details, ensuring they are the perfect size for a collectible item.

Some of the most impressive elements of these figures are the transparent red elements of Ampharos and Espeon's designs. According to DarthRaxius, they managed to capture the look of Ampharos' spheres and Espeon's forehead gem with resin. Apparently, the figures were all printed with red-dyed transparent resin and then painted. The artist simply left the areas that were supposed to be transparent red alone. They reported that Kingdra and Scizor's wings were also printed in transparent white resin and left mostly unpainted. This makes the wings look white and faintly translucent, even with painted details.
