In the last 26 years, Pokemon has grown into a sprawling franchise full of the most curious creatures. From the versatile Rotom to the ever-iconic Pikachu, it would be hard to find a single critter in the series that doesn't have a fan somewhere. However, very few Pocket Monsters have turned into a franchise staple, and one of the most famous and unique most definitely has to be Eevee and its many evolutions, but there are still a fair few unavailable types that it can't evolve into.

Currently, Eevee can evolve into Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. That gives the Pokemon a whopping total of eight different "Eeveelutions," as fans have grown to call them over the years. While many fans love the current forms Eevee can take, plenty of them also think about the ten types that have yet to be seen as an evolution for the cute fox-like critter. These possible choices for Eevee have a ton of potential that the series may want to capitalize on in the future.

Imagining the Eeveelutions Pokemon is Missing

When it comes to thinking about where the Evolution Pokemon can go in the future, there are a few sets of unspoken rules regarding the creatures. While Game Freak could easily break these rules at any point, it's easier to picture future evolutions for Eevee to stick to having only one type, as well as following the idea of representing a certain thing "after an eon," which is where the naming conventions for the Pokemon come from.

Bug-Type Eevee - The general idea for a Bug-Type Eeveelution tends to be imagining butterfly wings on its back, but there's room for other options than that. There could be an evolution with Beetle-like shell armor around it, or perhaps a fluffy moth-based Eeveelution. Game Freak could easily call this version "Anteneon" from antenna, or "Larveon" from larva.

Ghost-Type Eevee - It could be fairly easy for Game Freak to create a more stereotypical ghost Pokemon for this Eeveelution. The form could be translucent, or see-through, to a degree. To run with the stereotype, the form could have chains attached to its paws as it floats in the air. "Specteon" or "Souleon" could also be good names for a form that Pokemon fans most definitely want Eevee to evolve into.

Flying-Type Eevee - Similar to the Bug-Type Eeveelution, many fans typically picture this form as an Eevee with wings on its back. However, there's potential for the Evolution Pokemon to take a form similar to clouds, maybe with wing-shaped cloud ears. This would make the form rather fluffy-looking which is sure to capture many fans' hearts. "Cloudeon" may seem like a simplistic name, but the pun on "cloudy" makes it a good choice. There's plenty of potential for a Flying-Type Eeveelution, like the Griffin-based concept drawn by a Detective Pikachu artist.

Ground-Type Eevee - When it comes to the "after an eon" naming convention with most Eeveelutions, for the Ground-Type, it makes sense to go for something that changes when under the ground for a set amount of time. There's potential for an Eevee based on sandstone with dark brown paws that could be simplistic in design, with "Sandeon" being a good easy name to match.

Dragon-Type Eevee - A Dragon-Type evolution for Eevee is yet another form that has numerous potential ideas that could go into it. However, Pokemon is a series that tends to base the locations found in its titles on certain areas of the real world. Scarlet and Violet in particular have an interesting chance to introduce a Dragon-Type Eeveelution based on the legend of San Jorge. All this form would really need to tie into the legend would be to make sure a rose or rose-shaped marking could be found on its chest or the top of its head. "Draconeon" could be a good potential name as well.

Steel-Type Eevee - Even though the idea of a Steel-Type Eeveelution seems challenging to create, one approach Game Freak could take is making the creature either wear a suit of armor or be a living suit of armor. Similar to the Dragon-Type Eeveelution, it could tie into the themes of the region it's from in its design by studying the armor of the specific place. Far as names go, "Knighteon" or "Armoreon" could be its name.

Fighting-Type Eevee - This specific form could very easily mark the first Eevee form that can stand on its hind legs. However, due to how many Pokemon fans don't like the trend of quadruped creatures becoming bipedal, this may be a bad choice if implemented. With this Eeveelution's more sporty combat style, it could feature bandages covering its paws, or scruffy fur to represent battle damage. It could potentially evolve in a way similar to Galarian Farfetch'd, and perhaps be called "Tougheon" or something similar.

Poison-Type Eevee - Poison-Types in Pokemon tend to skirt a fine line, as the concept could lead to some gross creatures such as Muk. However, since Eevee is mostly known for being cute, there's an interesting approach it could take that keeps that part of the form intact - using a Poison Dart Frog as inspiration. It could lend to an interesting color scheme, and also inspire an interesting Pokedex entry that helps explain how trainers can still bond with a creature that might be covered in poisonous mucus. "Slimeon" may be simple, but would tie into just what makes critters like this poisonous rather well.

Rock-Type Eevee - While it may be easy to picture an Eeveelution covered in rocks as a basic concept, one cooler approach Game Freak could take would be to make the Rock-Type be "made" of rocks. It would be a great contrast to the most recent evolution, Sylveon, by being covered with jagged edges and less-uniform shapes. The creature doesn't need to be completely made of rocks, either, with a Pokedex entry stating that what could potentially be called "Rubbleon" might just have fur that looks like rocks for camouflage purposes.

Normal-Type Eevee Evolution - For many years throughout the franchise, fans have been given the idea that Eevee is the Normal-Type in its lineup of forms. However, the recent Pokemon anime has presented a rather interesting concept for a Normal-Type Eeveelution in the form of Chloe's Eevee. This unique Eevee has the power to replicate any of the other Eeveelution's Types. This would be an incredible concept to see in-game. "Eeveeon" might be a controversial name for such a creature, but with the right design, it could imply that Eevee chose to evolve in a way that's true to itself. This would keep the theme of Eevee being a Normal-Type representative without erasing just what Eevee already stands for.

Even with the ideas listed here, there are tons of options that the Pokemon series has with the remaining Types. This potential serves as a great case as to why the set should be completed rather than just left as they are. However, the series hasn't released a new evolution for this iconic creature since Pokemon X and Y, which means Game Freak might not be interested. Fans will just have to wait and see as the franchise moves forward.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will launch in late 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
