Over the years, Pokemon games have continued to add impressive and sometimes odd-looking Pokemon for players to catch and train. Throughout the various installments in the series, there is no shortage of unique designs to discover. These intriguing-looking Pokemon often help add personality to the world while keeping the gameplay new and exciting. Among the Pokemon with an unusual design is Steelix.

Introduced in Gen 2, Steelix is a Pokemon that has been around for a while now. It is a Steel/Ground-type Pokemon that has a peculiar-looking appearance, to say the least. The Pokemon features a serpentine body that is composed of rocky segments. In addition, it has a large head with a massive set of jaws that are used to grind through boulders when burrowing deep underground. Recently, one fan aimed to replicate this unusual design in real-life.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as MyPokePrints shared a video of a 3D print they made inspired by the Pokemon series. Specifically, this model was based on the design of a Steelix, and the results were nothing short of amazing. In the video, the Reddit user held the detailed model in their hand, revealing that each segment of the serpentine body of the Pokemon was moveable. In addition, the 3D-printed Pokemon shared many of the same details as its in-game counterpart, such as spikes on the sides of its segmented body. Furthermore, the creator decided to add their own flair to the design by giving it a gold finish.

Beyond sharing a video of the artwork on Reddit, MyPokePrints provided several details about the design process. For example, they revealed that the model was printed using resin. After this step, they used paint to give the Pokemon a distinct gold coloration. Remarkably, this was just one of several 3D-printed Pokemon designs made by the creator. They had made 3D prints featuring Gengar and Charmander as well.

Unsurprisingly, this impressive gold Steelix caught the attention of numerous members of the Pokemon community on Reddit. With over 12.1K upvotes in only a couple of days, many were impressed with the detail in the design. Among the comments, many praised the creator for making the model gold-colored. “That gold looks awesome,” vosswaterkim said on Reddit. In addition, many people, such as Reddit user Keriana, pointed out that Steelix was one of their favorite Pokemon in the entire series.

While this gold Steelix model is doubtlessly impressive, it is far from the only 3D-printed Pokemon made by passionate fans over the last couple of weeks. For instance, another gamer recently created a 3D print of Rayquaza. Time will tell what new creations are shared with the community in the coming days. Perhaps MyPokePrints will decide to make 3D prints for the new starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet next.
