A new rumor making the rounds online claims that Pokemon Gold and Silver are getting Switch remakes called Pokemon Let's Go Wooper and Let's Go Togepi, but fans shouldn't hold their breath. The original Pokemon Let's Go games were Generation 1 remakes that released in 2018 and made some notable changes to the established Pokemon formula.

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee were designed to attract the more casual crowd that were brought into the franchise through the wildly popular mobile game Pokemon GO. They feature local co-op support, motion controlled Poke Balls, and Pokemon visible in the game world as opposed to random battles. The Pokemon Let's Go games earned mostly positive reviews from critics, though hardcore fans were more split on them.

Pokemon Let's Go Needs To Refine Its Scope

With its future left in limbo, Pokemon Let's Go should follow the likes of other spin-offs such as Legends in order to resecure its legacy.

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee were sales successes, and so many have expected Game Freak and Nintendo to return to the concept for the Generation 2 Johto region games. Six years later, a rumor originating from 4Chan claims that Generation 2 remakes are coming to the Switch in the form of Pokemon Let's Go Wooper and Let's Go Togepi. The leak includes supposed logos for the games that look rather convincing, and seem to be the main reason why some Pokemon fans are buying into the claims. However, there is evidence to suggest that the logos have been faked, as they look suspiciously similar to fan-made logos from years ago.

Pokemon Gold and Silver Switch Remakes Rumor Explained

While it's almost certainly fake, the supposed leak claims that Pokemon Let's Go Wooper and Let's Go Togepi will feature the Kanto endgame content from the original Pokemon Gold and Silver. The games will supposedly release alongside a new Poke Ball Plus accessory that will grant one access to Celebi, similarly to how Mew was handled in the previous games. The games are said to feature GO Park instead of the Safari Zone, and Gold and Silver leaf power-ups that can be held by Wooper and Togepi. It's interesting to think about, but fans shouldn't get their hopes up.

The good news is that this "leak" should be addressed in the very near future. A Nintendo Direct is rumored to take place this month, and beyond that, Pokemon Day is on February 27. If these games exist, one has to imagine that they will be announced at one of those events. And if not, then this rumor can be safely considered debunked.
