Pokemon GO players are getting stuck while attempting to complete Zygarde Special Research tasks, which were introduced with the controversial Routes update. Although Routes were created to incentivize a new method of exploration in Pokemon GO, many players have cited problems accessing the feature and its new content.

Pokemon GO's Routes update launched on July 20, allowing players to create their own paths and let others follow it to earn rewards and capture new Pokemon. One day later, Legendary Pokemon Zygarde made its debut alongside the "Blaze New Trails" event with increased appearance rates for Pokemon such as Yungoos, Growlithe, and Ponyta. Pokemon GO players may capture shiny Pokemon and earn more Buddy Candy by traversing and creating Routes, and the Zygarde Special Research grants additional rewards and Zygarde Cells. However, the rollout of Routes has been met with controversy since many players have encountered issues and bugs that prevent progress entirely.

Pokemon GO player 8xviktor is unable to make progress in Zygarde Special Research tasks or earn Zygarde Cells since Routes were not yet available in their local community. These Special Research tasks include following three Routes, catching 20 Pokemon in Routes, and finding a single Zygarde Cell. The player's progress is stuck due to the staggered launch of Routes, and other Pokemon GO players in the Reddit community are chiming in with their own frustrations about the feature. Several Pokemon GO players are unable to access Routes in densely populated cities like Toronto or Chicago, while those who have access to Routes are also encountering issues such as crashes, game freezes, and glitches involving GPS.

Zygarde Cells are a necessary component for Zygarde Special Research since it allows Zygarde to change different forms. Zygarde may be captured in the Special Research story titled "From A to Zygarde," but progress after this point seemingly comes to a halt if Routes are not available to players in the local area.

Many players in the Pokemon GO community believe the Blaze New Trails event is greatly mishandled by Niantic due to the Routes feature's lack of availability on launch day. The gradual rollout of Routes and its current issues, including game crashes and navigation bugs, hinder progress for the player base and ultimately paints Niantic in a bad light. Niantic may want to remedy the situation with bug fixes quickly since players have already criticized the company for its recent controversies and problems involving Pokemon GO this month.

Niantic is expected to release Routes to all Pokemon GO players in the near future, so future updates may address the problems that the community is currently facing. If the feature receives crucial bug fixes, Routes may provide players with many more hours of fun content and rewards while visiting PokeStops and showcasing Pokemon.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
