Pokemon GO is a mobile game that trainers and fans can easily download onto their smartphones, allowing them to catch Pokemon while on the go. These Pokemon can even be transferred over to mainstream titles like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which is on the Nintendo Switch console.

While players are out, Pokemon GO tracks their walking, which then triggers Pokemon to spawn in the wild. It also runs on a day/night cycle based on the player's timezone, so that certain nocturnal Pokemon have a chance to spawn as well. However, sometimes the game asks players to go exploring. In case that is confusing, this guide is the perfect one to give a read.

What Exploring Is & How To Do It

Catch Shiny Fomantis in Pokemon GO

While playing Pokemon GO, players will be asked to complete research missions, some of which tell players to "go exploring." This can sometimes be confusing as there isn't a button like that in the game, but the answer to what trainers are supposed to do is actually more simple than they might think.

To complete the quest and get the credit, just walk. Walking in Pokemon GO is considered exploring. While it isn't required or needed, players can also have their Pokemon buddy follow alongside them. With a trainer's buddy following them, they can find more candy, which players can then use to level up, evolve, or teach Pokemon new attacks.

So when the game says something about going exploring, it is simply telling players to walk around and get some exercise. However, players don't even need to leave their house. The smartphone or smartwatch will easily track steps, and that data is then streamed back to Pokemon GO.

Sometimes Pokemon GO will ask players to make a certain amount of steps, or walk a certain distance within a certain time frame. Often after completing the research tasks, players will get an encounter with a cool Pokemon that they can attempt to catch, as well as PokeBalls or special candies.

So when Pokemon GO asks trainers to go exploring, simply just take a nice walk, and before trainers know it, the task will be complete. Walking will also have other benefits in the game toward weekly rewards as well, so don't delay taking that morning or evening walk any longer.
