Pokemon GO can now directly link with Niantic’s social app, Campfire. The AR title has never failed to keep things engaging for the fan base, and this addition is a cherry on the topping. Although several controversies, like the Remote Raid Nerf issue, affected the entire fan community, the game keeps gaining momentum.

Campfire App was an invite-only when it got introduced in July 2022, but now Niantic has allowed access to even more trainers. The application connects with Pokemon GO and numerous other apps developed by Niantic. Players can socialize even more and band together to maximize the game’s experience.

Initially created to share player information, the app also offers additional features. Niantic has integrated Campfire’s functionalities directly into its games, allowing players to join communities, make friends, and communicate efficiently.

The primary functionality of the social app is its ability to connect different Pokemon GO trainers for Raid Battles and other special events. It facilitates collaboration among players in local communities, allowing them to team up and defeat Raid Bosses.

The Campfire app is available in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Some players will see a small green square map button on the game's screen that leads them to Campfire. After logging into the app, trainers must link it to their Pokemon GO account. Once linked in, the app displays a map with nearby Raids.

Pokemon GO: How to Use the Campfire App

Campfire App Team Up in Pokemon GO

After logging into the Campfire app, select a specific Raid or Gym to use Flare Chat. Tapping “Chat” will automatically include players in the Flare Chat for that Raid or Gym. They can also choose “Light a Flare,” alerting others about a nearby Pokemon GO Raid Battle.

Flare Chat is an individual chat room for each Raid or Gym location, allowing players to coordinate in-game events with others. One can join Flare Chat from anywhere and be present in one chat room at a time. The chat history resets when all participants leave.

Campfire’s new feature, Team Up, makes joining forces and challenging Raid Battles easier. Players can host or join a raid through the Team Up menu, which displays nearby raid options. As a host, one can create a group with up to five nearby trainers using Team Up. They can add these players as friends and invite them to join the raid.

Those who want to join a raid without hosting can select the option to enter a raid through Team Up. The system automatically matches them with hosts for a collaborative Pokemon GO raid experience. Team Up also includes preset messages to facilitate communication and coordination within the group.

Before using this feature, be aware that other users may temporarily access the user’s username and real-time location. One should be comfortable with this before proceeding and refrain from sharing personal information.

Only some people have access to the Campfire app at the moment. While it is available to most users in the US, there are limitations for many Pokemon GO users in the UK, indicating a gradual rollout process.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS.
