Raid Hour was introduced in Pokemon GO in 2019 and was a new breath of fresh air for players as a good new way to get Legendary and Mythical Pokemon. Before Raid Hour was introduced, trainers had few opportunities to show off their collection and get really valuable rewards. This way, players have been able to participate in weekly raids to get Candy and rare Pokemon for several years now.

Initially, it was planned that the event would take place at lunchtime, but it turned out that numerous players were not ready to spend this time playing Pokemon GO. In this regard, Niantic decided that Raid Hour will be held from 6 PM to 7 PM every Wednesday.

Pokemon GO What is a Raid Hour - Explained (1)

Raid Hours happen every Wednesday from 6 PM to 7 PM, player's local time. They give plenty of opportunities to get some good rewards: trainers can get Premier Balls, Rare Candies, TMs, and Golden Razz Berries during raids. Also, the chance of meeting shiny Pokemon increases at this time.

During the event, only one specific Pokemon appears, mostly legendary, and each time it is different. During a Raid Hour, the number of Gyms increases significantly and thus the number of raids in which players can participate. This is especially useful for trainers in rural areas, since there are usually quite few Gyms and players.

Regardless of whether players play alone or work in a group, they can find a raid for themselves as there are many straightforward ones. But those who want to take everything from Raid Hour should join a local group on social media to take on the most difficult raid bosses together. Trainers should plan and coordinate their actions, which will allow them to effectively choose raids that their group can handle.

Basically, for fans to take part in the event, they just need to go outside at the time it is held. They need to find and spin the Gym`s PokeStop, after which trainers will receive one free Raid Pass. It is important to note that only one can be obtained daily. Players can also purchase Premium Battle Passes for PokéCoins in the game store. They can buy an unlimited number of them, but, of course, no more than they can store in their inventory. The last way is the Remote Raid Pass, which allows trainers to join a raid even if they are far from the Gym. Remote Raid Passes were introduced at the beginning of the pandemic and can currently be used up to 5 per day.
