For those players that may be inexperienced with Team GO Rocket in PoGO, the first step toward addressing the Ultra Beast Protection Efforts Special Research is to battle Grunts at special PokeStops. Players can identify these PokeStops from a distance by the twitching cubes on their tops, and they will turn black when approached. After defeating a Grunt, fans will have the opportunity to catch a Shadow Pokemon, and it can be purified with Stardust and Candy.

Players will also receive Mysterious Components upon dispatching Team GO Rocket Grunts, and six of these Components can be combined to create a Rocket Radar. This item can then be equipped to reveal PokeStops where Team GO Rocket Leaders are stationed, and fans must defeat all three of them. Notably, beating Team GO Rocket Leaders can be a bit difficult, requiring players to bring some powerful Pokemon to the fight.

Once the three Team GO Rocket Leaders have been defeated, fans will receive a Super Rocket Radar in Pokemon GO that can be used to track down and challenge the Team GO Rocket Boss. This fight is even more difficult than the battles with Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra, and players may need to make several attempts. Fortunately, beating Giovanni marks the end of the Ultra Beast Protection Efforts Special Research, and many rewards will be granted when the job is done.
