Within Pokémon GO, there will be plenty of challenging bosses players will have to face. Tyranitar, for instance, is a powerful Pokémon GO raid boss and is in the Tier 3 ranking of difficulty.

Tyranitar is a popular Pokémon in the games due to its vast range of learnable moves and impressive stat distribution. When caught, its CP ranges from 2103-2191 at level 20, and when it's boosted by either partly cloudy or foggy weather, it can grow to the 2629 - 2739 CP range.

While Tyranitar may look incredibly intimidating, numerous options can be used to take it down quickly. So for trainers struggling with a tricky raid boss or against a friend who uses one, here are some excellent options to take down Tyranitar.

Pokemon GO Opens Raid Battles to Almost All Players - Tyranitar

As a Rock and Dark-type Pokémon, Tyranitar is strong against Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, Psychic, and Ghost-type Pokémon. On the other hand, Tyranitar is really weak to Fighting, Bug, Fairy, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water-type Pokémon. Special emphasis on Fighting-types, since that is super effective against both Rock and Dark-type Pokémon and will deal 200% damage.

The possible moves it can learn are Bite and Iron Tail for the fast moves, with Crunch, Stone Edge, and Fire Blast being the charge moves. As mentioned before, Foggy weather will not only boost Tyranitar in general, but also the effectiveness of Bite and Crunch. And if it's Partly Cloudy, Stone Edge will have a damage boost if the Tyranitar knows it. Neither of these will be too much of an issue if trainers have a strong Fighting-type, but it should be kept in mind.

Some of the best fighting type options are:

  • Mega Lopunny with Low kick as the fast move and Focus Blast as the charge move.
  • Lucario with Counter as the fast move and Aura Sphere as the charged move.
  • Conkeldurr with Counter as the fast move and Dynamic Punch as the Fighting move.
  • Machamp with Counter as the fast move and Dynamic Punch as the charged move.

If players want to go for non-fighting options, potentially if they'll get a better weather boost, some other type options include:

  • Mega Blastoise with Water Gun as the fast move and Hydro Cannon as the Charged Move.
  • Mega Gyarados with Waterfall as the fast move and Hydro Pump as the charged move.
  • Blaziken with Counter as the fast move and Focus Blast as the charged move.
  • Mega Venusaur with Vine Whip as the fast move and Frenzy Plant as the charged move.
