Pokemon GO's Throwback Challenge 2020 event goes live at 1:00pm local time on May 1, and it starts with limited-time Kanto research. The nine-step quest will let players better complete their Kanto region Pokedex by offering encounters with especially rare Pokemon like Aerodactyl and even the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo.

Anyone that wants to participate in the Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge 2020 Kanto event should know that it will only be available in the game for a limited time. The Pokemon GO Throwback Challenge 2020: Kanto tasks will only be available in the popular augmented reality mobile game until Friday, May 8 at 1:00pm local time. Failure to complete all of the Throwback Challenge 2020: Kanto tasks will keep players from unlocking the new Special Research that becomes available on June 3, so fans should be sure to get them all done if they're interested.

It should be noted that thanks to Pokemon GO gameplay changes that Niantic has implemented in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, like remote raid passes, most of these tasks can be completed without leaving home or getting out of a car.
