Over the years, Pokemon GO has evolved into the Pokemon game that all hardcore gamers ever dreamed of playing. Players now have the ability to catch nearly every Pokemon throughout every region (even some of the newer ones), thus having the chance to complete their Pokedex for each area. Moreover, players can compete with other trainers to see which Pokemon team is the best while earning lots of rewards.

Pokemon GO also has Special Research quests that players can complete to obtain legendaries that can't be caught in Raids. Legendaries like Victini, Mew, and Jirachi are limited to these Special Research quests, so completionists who want a complete Pokedex will want to finish these quests. Those that want to add Jirachi to their Pokemon lineup will need to complete the "A Thousand-Year Slumber" Special Research specifically.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 1

A Thousand-Year Slumber 1 Pokemon GO
  • Catch 25 Pokemon
  • Spin 10 Pokestops or Gyms
  • Make 3 New Friends

Players don't have to do too much to complete the first two sets of objectives as they are relatively easy. First, players must catch 25 Pokemon (it doesn't have to be unique Pokemon). The fastest method of completing this step is to place several Lures since they attract more wild Pokemon and can even be used to evolve certain Pokemon.

Since the player is already using Lures at Pokestops, they can take advantage to spin them ten times. The final step can be tricky but can be done by searching for websites dedicated to sharing Pokemon Friend Codes. Once completed, players will receive x1 Mossy Lure Module, x1 Glacial Lure Module, and 1 Magnetic Lure Module.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 2

A Thousand-Year Slumber 2 Pokemong GO
  • Catch 3 Whismur
  • Evolve a Feebas
  • Earn a Gold Hoenn Medal

The next objective in the "A Thousand-Year Slumber" Special Research quest will be significantly harder to complete, especially for newer players. Players first need to catch 3 Whismur in the wild (make sure to at least leave one in Storage), and there's no method of forcing Pokemon GO to spawn them.

Then, players will need to evolve the Feebas they received as a reward in the previous step. But, before players can evolve Feebas, they'll need to walk 20km with it as a Buddy and have 100 Feebas Candies. The final step may be the hardest since players must earn a Gold Hoenn Medal, meaning they must register 90 unique Pokemon of that region, which can be done by trading with other players. Upon completing the final objective, players will receive x2000 Stardust, x10 Poke Balls, and x3 Incense.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 3

A Thousand-Year Slumber 3 Pokemon GO
  • Take a Snapshot of Loudred
  • Make 3 Great Throws in a Row
  • Earn 3 Candies Walking with Your Buddy

The third stage of this Special Research is more manageable than the previous stage but will still require the player to evolve Whismur. Fortunately, to evolve Whismur into Loudred, players will only need 12 Whismur Candies, which they should have after catching three of them.

As for the second objective, players must make three Great Throws in a row. There's no real "cheat" to achieve a Great Throw, so players should be patient and wait for the right moment to throw the Poke Ball. Finally, players must earn 3 Candies from walking their Buddy, so they will need to enable Adventure Sync to get them as soon as possible. Upon completing this objective, players will receive x20 Silver Pinap Berries, x3 Star Pieces, and x2000 Stardust.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 4

A Thousand-Year Slumber 4 Pokemon GO
  • Catch 50 Psychic or Steel-type Pokemon
  • Power up Pokemon x10
  • Send 10 Gifts to Friends

For the following set of objectives, players will need to catch 50 Psychic or Steel-type (catching either one contributes to the 50 total). Players can use a Magnetic Lure Module as several Electric-type Pokemon have Steel as their secondary type. As for Psychic-type Pokemon, there's no way to attract them other than hoping they're drawn to an Incense.

Powering up a Pokemon (or several) ten times shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially if players use a Star Piece to increase Stardust acquisition. As for the final objective, players should have enough Friends by now, but if not, they should only need seven since they already needed three. Once completed, trainers will receive x1 Charged TM, x1 Premium Raid Pass, and x1 Fast TM.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 5

A Thousand-Year Slumber 5 Pokemon GO
  • Battle a Team Leader 3 Times
  • Win Against Another Trainer 7 Times
  • Win 5 Raids

For the fifth step, players must test their Pokemon in PVP battles by fighting Team Leaders and other trainers. Players can fight Team Leaders by navigating to the Nearby Tab (the tiny binoculars icon on the bottom right of the screen) and pressing "Battle." Then, players can choose either Blanche, Candela, or Spark and battle either one of them three times.

The next objective will be somewhat difficult since players must win a Trainer battle seven times. They can do this by competing in the Battle League (players should ensure their Pokemon have the best-Charged Moves beforehand) or asking a Friend to let them win seven times. Trainers can complete the final objective, Win Five Raids, solo or with a group of friends. The rewards for completing this stage are x3 Rare Candies, x20 Ultra Balls, and x3000 Stardust.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 6

A Thousand-Year Slumber 6
  • Take 5 Snapshots of Steel or Psychic-type Pokemon
  • Make 3 Excellent Curveball Throws
  • Spin a Pokestop 7 Days in a Row

Players must take a snapshot of five Steel or Psychic-type Pokemon for the sixth objective. Turning off the AR feature will allow players to take a snapshot of Pokemon without "placing" them on a flat surface. The next step will have players make three Excellent Curveball Throws, which can easily be achieved with large Pokemon like Snorlax or Wailmer.

Now players will need to spin a Pokestop seven days in a row. There's no way around it, so players must wait seven days to advance to the final step. Upon completing this step, trainers will receive x10 Silver Pinap Berries, x10 Star Pieces, and x5000 Stardust.

A Thousand-Year Slumber - Part 7

A Thousand-Year Slumber 7 Pokemon GO
  • Automatically Completed

All three objectives will be completed for the final step, so players will not have to do anything except claim the rewards (13,500 EXP). As for the final rewards, players will receive a Jirachi T-shirt, x20 Jirachi Candies, and the legendary Jirachi encounter.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android.
