Pokemon GO players are having a seriously busy summer. The mobile AR community has barely had a chance to recover from last weekend's Mudkip Community Day event and Niantic is already releasing a new exciting batch of content into the game. After three years of waiting, Team GO Rocket has finally arrived and players have a chance to defend their hometowns from the bad guys.
The new Pokemon GO Team Rocket Invasions seem to be built off of the trainer battle structure that players are already familiar with, but there are some new mechanics like Rocket Pokestops and Shadow Pokemon to make things a bit more exciting. Players should login to the game and head towards the first Pokestop they see that seems to be shifting colors in order to start unlocking the new content.
After working through some quest text with your team leader, players should interact with the stop and encounter their first Team GO Rocket grunt. The battle will play out just like other in-game battles, but at the end players will have a chance to encounter and catch a Shadow Pokemon.
After a Shadow Pokemon has been acquired, players can spend some Stardust and Candy to Purify the poor little creature and bring it back to the light side of the Poke-force. Purifying a Pokemon will totally change its stats, so don't be discouraged by the how bad things look while the creature is still in Shadow form.
