Niantic, the developer of Pokemon GO, is the creator of the Niantic Sustainability Campaign, which strives to encourage people to combat climate change and make environmentally sustainable choices. As part of the campaign, Pokemon GO will be hosting the Sustainability Week 2022 event, which will give gamers plenty of opportunities to catch new Pokemon and earn rewards.

The event will run from 20 April to 25 April, and not only will there be several Pokemon to encounter, but gamers will also be able to make an ecological impact. On 23 April, Niantic will plant a tree for every Pokemon Trainer who travels more than 5 km (3.1 miles). For players looking to catch rare Pokemon, plant trees, and get some exercise, Pokemon GO's Sustainability Week 2022 event is not to be missed.

The event begins at 10:00 am local time on 20 April, and it will run until 08:00 pm local time on 25 April. During this time, players will get 2x bonus XP from spinning PokeStop for the first time. Pokemon Trainers should be on the lookout for rare Pokemon to catch. Oranguru, a Normal/Psychic Pokemon introduced in Generation 7, will be making its debut in Pokemon GO, and the shiny version of Cherubi will also be appearing for the first time in the game.

Players will have a greater chance of encountering the following Pokemon in the wild: Grotle, Oddish, Grimer, Turtwig, Trubbish, and Ferroseed. Lucky Pokemon Trainers may also encounter Phantump, shiny Venusaur, and shiny versions of all the aforementioned Pokemon except for Grotle. For players with 7 km Eggs, there is a greater chance of the following Pokemon hatching: Alolan Diglett, Larvitar, Cherubi, and Oranguru, and lucky Pokemon Trainers have the chance of hatching shiny versions of all those Pokemon except for Oranguru.

During Sustainability Week 2022, players should also head to the in-game shop and grab the Event Box for free. It contains a Mossy Lure Module, and the following Pokemon may be attached to it: Gloom, Weepinbell, Chikorita (or shiny Chikorita), Grotle, Cherubi (or shiny Cherubi), or Sewaddle. Lucky Pokemon Trainers may encounter Alolan Diglett (or shiny Alolan Diglett), Bellossom, or Nincada (or shiny Nincada). Players will need the Mossy Lure Module for the upcoming Collection Challenge, as two of the Pokemon that must be caught, namely Gloom and Weepinbell, only appear when it is used. Players who complete the Collection Challenge will earn 15 Great Balls, a Mossy Lure Module, and they will contribute towards their Elite Collector Medal.

During Sustainability Week 2022, Stufful Community Day will also take place on 23 April from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm local time. Stufful Community Day, as the name might suggest, marks the debut of Stufful in Pokemon GO. From 10:00 am to 08:00 pm, there will also be Timed Research available which will require players to travel 1km, and doing so will earn players an encounter with a Cherubi.

The following Pokemon will be available to encounter after completing Field Research tasks: Turtwig (or shiny Turtwig), Cherubi (or shiny Cherubi), Snivy (or shiny Snivy), Trubbish (or shiny Trubbish), Chespin, and Phantump. By completing certain Pokemon GO Field Research tasks, players can also earn Mega Venusaur Energy and Mega Abomasnow Energy.

For the whole of 23 April, Niantic will plant a tree (up to 100,000 trees) for every player that adventures 5 km or more, turning the day into both a fun and eco-conservative one. With the chance to catch more Pokemon and plant trees at the same time, the upcoming Pokemon GO Community Day is sure to be a memorable addition to an already event-packed Sustainability Week.
