Pokemon GO fans had about a month to campaign for their favorite picks for September and October Community Day, but the big vote and come and gone and now the decision is final. Voting took place over the weekend and in both the mock poll and the final poll there was a landslide victory for the two winners and the runner-ups were left in the dust with barely 8% of the total vote combined.

As many fans predicted, Porygon and Charmander came out on top. This lines up with which Pokemon were trending before the voting event and where most of the community buzz was focused. Although Shiny Charmander already feels very common considering that Pokemon received a Community Day many months ago, fans are clearly still excited enough about the Gen 1 starter to give it a second Pokemon GO Community Day this fall instead of opting for Grimer or Caterpie.

The upcoming events are scheduled to take place on September 20 and October 17 with Porygon taking the spotlight in September's event and Charmander arriving in October. To answer a popular fan question, since Charmander has already been a Community Day Pokemon once before, Niantic confirmed that Charmander's exclusive move this time around will be Dragon Breath. More details about Porygon's exclusive CD move and other features for each event will arrive in the coming weeks.

Now that the voting is over, it will be quite a while before we learn anything about November Community Day. Most years the December event ends up featuring an assortment of Pokemon from throughout the year, which means that there may only be one remaining mystery Community Day feature for all of 2020. As the holiday season approaches and Porygon and Charmander Community Day come and go, we'll certainly learn more about the holiday season Community Day events closer to their own dates. If December does end up being a big best of the year event once again in 2020, it will be interesting to see how long Niantic stretches the event and its bonuses out for. Hopefully the event's bonuses might stay live throughout the entire weekend to give players who are still social distancing in December a chance to take full advantage of whatever special spawns and features are on the way.

Once the new event arrives this weekend, the festivities should give trainers a good reason to continue catching the best Unova Pokemon in the game and getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for more Pokemon GO updates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
