Pokemon GO has confirmed the Pokemon set to be featured for the game's September 2023 Community Day Classic: Charmander. The beloved mobile game from the long-running monster-catching franchise has seen plenty of opportunities for players to acquire rare and exclusive Pokemon throughout recent weeks. Last weekend saw Niantic host its Pokemon GO Fest Global 2023 event with players around the world able to take advantage of increased spawns and brand-new shiny Pokemon. Now, a beloved member of the original 151 Pokemon will feature in September.

Pokemon GO's Community Day events are one of the highlights of each new month for the massively popular mobile game. Each month's festivities focus around a particular Pokemon featuring boosted spawn and shiny rates, as well as special Field Research giving players even more chances to catch the featured Pokemon. Community Days also include special perks for evolving the featured Pokemon, with powerful exclusive moves available for a limited time. Niantic has now confirmed that one of the original starters will be September's spotlight Pokemon.

An official announcement from Niantic has revealed that Charmander will be the featured Pokemon for September 2023's Community Day Classic event. Charmander's Community Day will run on Saturday, September 2nd from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. local time and will feature increased rates for the Fire starter Pokemon. Evolving a Charmeleon into a Charizard during the event will also give players access to special moves for Charizard with the fast attack Dragon Breath and Blast Burn as its Charged Attack. The event will also feature an exclusive "Classic Special Research" story available for purchase.

Alongside the increased rates for Charmander, the Community Day will also offer plenty of other special perks for players taking part in the event. Pokemon GO will include increased Stardust rates for catching Pokemon and the duration of both Incenses and Lure Modules will be extended to three hours. The event will also feature special Timed Research missions awarding players with Mega Energy for their newly acquired Charizards. Pokemon GO has also confirmed special PokeStop Showcases will run at select PokeStops during the Community Day event.

Pokemon GO's newest Community Day comes as the mobile game has seen plenty of major updates throughout the summer of 2023. Niantic would announce earlier this month that September will see the addition of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starter Pokemon to Pokemon GO. July would also see the introduction of Routes to Pokemon GO, allowing players to share their in-game walking paths with others. September's Charmander Community Day will give players the chance to secure one of the franchise's most iconic creatures.
